Bringing in nothing but regional/national champions for a tournament in which the winner fights the UFC champ is the best idea I've heard for TUF. While I suspect this will be a one off because there's nothing else for Demetrious, I sure hope they will do it for other divisions.

Just finished watching the 1st episode. Really enjoyed it.
I dont get why people arent excited for this season, for sure its gonna be one the most competitive, more technical and talented. Great coaches...
Imo it has everything to be one of the best seasons without a doubt.

You do realize that most seasons primarily feature guys who are champs in regional promotions right?

So much THIS.

The difference being, they don't make a big deal of it as the winner isn't fighting for a UFC title. And rightly so - being Alaska FC champion isn't something to make a big deal of, same goes for a few others on the show.

However, I do agree this format should be the norm, minus the 'fighting for the UFC title' element.

Choose a weight-class; scour the regional circuits and choose 16 good champions. No more 32-man casts with guys fluking it into the house, no more guys entering the last 16 with an injury or two. It should make for a better overall cast and there won't be any weirdos who have been passed through tryouts due to having a 'quirky' or 'fiery' personality.

Great fights as expected. The forced trash talk and faux drama was cringy though. I'll skip to the fights from here on out.

They should have an "iron chef" format where MM sits high up on a throne looking down at them every episode.

i just caught the first episode, i really like this, feels like a real tournament, no guys who don't belong, gassing out or not knowing what they are doing, i feel like we can have real fights on tuf this season

I'm enjoying the fighter's intro TBH, not the stupid trash talk

The one thing I've noticed is how competitive these guys have been, so far noone is taking the easy road out by tapping or giving up early. The technical level is high too.

Not only is it a great new direction for TUF, they also obtained the rebroadcast rights to include each fighter's cage highlights in their respective promotions.

The sheer paperwork, scouting and red-tape necessary to pull off a tournament of regional champs is impressive.

Although I'd steer clear of one too many references to each flyweight being "Best In The World" in each of their divisions. Even the UFC gets side-eyed when they toss that dubious title around willy nill.

Love the coaches, love the fighters finally a great season.

I'm confused why people on here are confusing organizations like Tachi, Legacy, Shooto, Titan FC, RFA in with 'regional promotions' as if they're thinking they're amateur fights in a casino ballroom....

I meant regional as in they stay in one region and generally use fighters from the area

It feels like Cejudo was told to try and ramp up the trash talk and has no idea what he's doing. There Joe impression he did before the weigh ins was so cringy I nearly turned off the show right there.

Watched eps 1 & 2 and i'm really enjoying it so far. The fights have been great and i like the lack of stupid drama like previous seasons.

That Kiwi guy seems like a beast on the feet. Looking forward to his next fight. Hopefully Dana sees success ahead and plans this for 135 and 145. It would be awesome.

It's only 2 eps but already i can't wait for the finale event. If all guys put on good fights like the 3 so far then they'll get a ticket into the ufc
