I am sure that not many will make this connection but it is apt.

They both made a living off of writing about the crazy women in their lives
Both had alter ego's that wrote darker material

Hank: Luke the drifter. Luke the drifter released his own records. The songs were understood to be too dark to ever be a hit. They comprise some of his best material.

Eminem: Marshal mathers, eminem and slim shady

Both of these men speak or spoke to the wounded. I think eminem will be listened to by many generations Just like ole Hank. I despise rap and I listen to and highly respect this eminem fella.

That is a horrible insult that Hank Williams does not deserve.

I'm a Hank fan, Eminem, not so much, but I like the comparison, honestly.

Speak to the wounded. I like it.

Luke the Drifter was Gospel / Spoken Word it wasn't released as Hank Williams songs because people who was at honky tonks wanted to hear Move it on Over, Settin' the Woods on Fire, and Honky Tonkin' not song like Angel of Death, 30 Pieces of Silver, or I Saw the Light. He still released darker stuff like Lost Highway, I'll Never get out of this World Alive, and I'm So Lonesome I could Cry as Hank William.

I actually dig Eminem. Even his last 4 albums or so had a couple of tracks that spoke to me.

But I haven't liked an entire album of his since the second or third one.

no, Eminem is the modern day Hank Jr at best.
