The WALKING DEAD: Season 7, Second Half (No Comic or Show Spoilers)

Not really, didn't they get into a gun battle with them? They didn't know who they were but they ran into those two cars of random ppl?

And they tried to kill Darlye, Abraham, and Sasha...
The people who wanted to kidnap Daryl, Abe and Sasha were killed by Daryl. The rest had nothing to do with it. Even if we stretch our imaginations to say the others would have condoned the kidnapping and murders, does that justify them being murdered in their sleep?

Rick and co. killed people in the savior compound simply because looking for food got harder. There was no self-defense justification or even a dire situation where all of Alexandria was dying because of starvation. Because we see now they have almost nothing because Neagan took most of it and Gabriel took the rest and Alexanrdians have not starved.

They saw what they were up against when they stabbed the hilltops leader and held someone hostage. They took out shittier people, not sure why that's a problem.

Side note, the guy who plays Aaron is a pretty funny impressionist

Yeah, I saw the dude on Conan a while back, and he was killing it with all of his impressions. It might be a handy skill if Andrew Lincoln ever gets too demanding.

"So, uhh, how's your Rick impersonation?"

Were the saviors "shittier" than the alexandrians?

Alexandria was not up against the Saviors at that point. Rick and co. instigated the feud. Who killed who in their sleep?

Besides all we knew at the time was that they stabbed one of the Hilltop people and told them to kill Gregory. Rick was ready to take down Gregory himself and take their food. Rick and co. are only slightly better than Neagan.

Well, they don't kill unless they have to. Saviors do it for fun. See the "raid" at waterside or whatever that community is called. Went out of their way not to kill anyone as far fetched as that is.

Rick and co. didn't have to go to the compound and kill saviors while the saviors slept. It wasn't fun but it damn sure wasn't a necessity.

Do you mean the group that found Tara? They are Oceanside. And that is another example of Rick's bullying. He wanted to take their stuff simply because he feels he can. There may be a difference between the taking of someone's stuff by death (Neagan) or the fear of death (Rick) but they both end up with someone stronger and meaner taking someone else's shit.

Yeah they robbed them, pretty clear cut.

I think the main difference is that Rick and Co. only do what is necessary. They wouldn't have raided Oceanside if they didn't need the guns to fight the Saviors whereas the Saviors would have stolen their shit regardless. Rick's group only takes what they need; they wouldn't take peoples' beds and burn them just for the lulz like Negan's group.

While doing a preemptive attack on the Saviors and killing them in their sleep may have seemed unconscionable, they new that they were going to have to fight the Saviors regardless. It was only a matter of time until they came across Alexandria and they knew once that happened - based on their previous contact with the Saviors and what the Hilltop told them - that they would attempt to kill and dominate the Alexandrians, as they have. If the Saviors didn't operate the way that they do, that never would have happened. They brought it on themselves by employing such brutal tactics in their dealings with others.

You can say the same thing of Neagan.

He only killed Glenn and Abe because they killed his people. Neagan only took Alexandria's beds, guns and crap because Neagan knows how strong and defiant they can be. Neagan only took their food because he has tons of people to feed. It can go both ways.

Rick is only a slightly better version than Neagan. The attack on the savior compound was unprovoked and unnecessary. It not only put Alexandria in Neagan's sights but it was short sighted on part of the group we have been told are smart. They knew nothing about the saviors but they arrogantly and more importantly, mercilessly killed people in their sleep.

If Rick didn't operate the way he does maybe Glenn would still be alive. Maybe none of this would have happened. And if you want to talk about brutal then let's talk continue to mention the killing of people while they slept. Is that really less brutal than beating Glenn and Abe with a baseball bat?

What about all the other groups they kill? They've established they kill and dominate every group.

Rick's group isn't the one that started it, the Saviors were. That group that Abe, Daryl, and Sasha ran into weren't just some group operating on their own. They were patrolling for Negan. They even stated that they usually just kill one person right off the bat when they encounter a new group so they understand the situation. Meaning, they would've killed someone regardless, even if Rick's group hadn't killed any of them. That's how the Saviors operate. They clearly don't just take what they need, they take what
they want. As Daryl said, "It's not about getting by [with the Saviors]. It's about getting everything."

Negan even stated that if you're working for points (the run of the mill Saviors who aren't working directly for Negan) you'll wish that you were dead. Does that really sound like a leader that cares about his people? Do you really think that Rick would be okay with his group being so miserable that they wish they were dead?

The attack on the outpost while they slept was a result of the Savior's M.O. If they were a peaceful group, like Oceanside, they would not have murdered them like that. Rick and his group went out of their way to make sure they didn't kill anyone at Oceanside. Do you really think the Saviors would have done the same? Was it smart to attack them when they new so little about them? Of course not. But as far as the tactics that Rick used, they were a response to how the Saviors operate. It was a premptive attack because they knew, with absolute certainty, that the Saviors would try to dominate them, exactly as they have.

If they didn't do that, yeah, maybe Glenn would still be alive, but someone else would be dead in his place and all of this still would have happened. That's how the Saviors work. They would have come after Rick's group regardless.

You are only proving my point. Rick and gang knows all this but they short sightedly and arrogantly strolled into the savior compound and killed people in their sleep. They attacked Oceanside and hoped to not kill anyone but they wouldn't lose sleep (unlike the saviors) if they did. Rick was read to attack Alexandria in the beginning and take it over.

We have to be clear about something though. Rick and gang did NOT attack the savior compound because Neagan stroke first. They did it for Hilltop's food and supplies. That was the reason and the ONLY reason.

I don't even know your point. I said Rick and gang are only slightly better than the saviors. They are but just slightly.

Good episode overall IMO. At least they jumped around a bit and carried multiple story lines rather than just focus on 1 slow moving location like Hilltop or something. It looks like we might get some action next week but I'm guessing the all out war won't happen until next season at this point.

What about all the other groups they kill? They've established they kill and dominate every group.
LOL Rick and co. have attacked groups before. They have tried to dominate every group they encounter. They may not be as kill-happy as Neagan but the just bleed God was satisfied with the spilling of savior blood at the compound.

No, the food was not the only reason. They knew that it was only a matter of time before the Saviors came for Alexandria. Rick said as much in the speech he gave to the Alexandrians. The food was part of their motivation, yes, but it was not the entire reason. If the Hilltop had asked Rick's group to attack The Kingdom instead of the Saviors, they would not have done it. They took the deal because it was killing two birds with one stone. They knew they would have to fight the Saviors eventually.

My point is that the Saviors are much worse than Rick's group. Rick's group might not be saints, but they don't go marauding through the countryside attacking and dominating every group that they come across as the Saviors do. Rick at least wants his people to be happy; Negan gives no fucks about his people, just himself.

lol, no they haven't. They didn't try to dominate Woodbury, or Terminus, or the Kingdom, or the Hilltop.

Are they promoing the infamous '90 minute episode'?
Mhm "Special extended finale"

Which means more commercials with a possible filler scene. Sasha staring at the cell wall for a minute, with somber music playing as if shes debating something.

They did not. Daryl said if we take out Neagan will you give us food (I'm paraphrasing). I went back and watched that scene. Right then and there it was decided. No one mentioned a preemptive strike against the saviors.

"much worse" is relative.... They are only slightly worse than Rick and company. Let's not forget the killing people while they slept.
