clearly saw the Cracked video on this, but ya the main holding pt of the theory is his friendship w/ Screech

it makes no sense. Zach got the highest SAT Score in his HS (beating Screech and Jesse), he's not dumb. There's literally no other reason to have screech around.....

He needed him as a buffer. Despite his high intelligence his emotional intelligence was low. He had screech to remind himself that he wasnt the loser. Like many heroes he needed a close friend to unwillingly love him despite his flaws. He repaid screech by allowing him into the inner circle and main events during high school.
