The Ponies Thread (part 2)

Meh. It chalked out with an order of #2,#4,#6,#3.

Haha! So be it Shark. Not much we can really do right?

Your horse in this next one, Rocky Boy Indian, opened at 8/5 after being 8/1 on the morning line. Who's laughing now T?

Don't know if I've asked this before but what are your favorite and least favorite tracks @Sharkey ? I know Parx is a shithole track in general, and I'm pretty sure you hate gulfstream lol, I just don't know if you have any you hate more than that one.

For the contest I ended up defaulting to the top ranked horse each race just because I have no idea how I'm going to find any value based off of such inaccurate morning lines.

This Broberg trainer seems to have a horse running in almost every race at Remington. Must be legit if he has this many horses under him even if it's just at this track.

My favourite is Saratoga obviously. Not my most sucessful, but it's easily my favourite just because of it's history and charm (plus it looks gorgeous on a screen). The other New York tracks like Belmont and Aqueduct are okay as well. Woodbine is up there for me, as it's bettor friendly with a lower takeout than most tracks if not all (believe it's sub 15%), and it's probably been my most successful track this year. Hastings is similar being that it's also bettor friendly and I'd done quite well there this year. I became a fan of Mahoning Valley last winter as it has a certain charm and a lot of full fields, so that's up there. Tracks like Oaklawn, Keeneland, Santa Anita, Del Mar, etc., are all decent enough as well.

I don't like Parx and it's not exactly friendly to bettors with it's high takeout, but I've done okay there this year. Gulfstream sucks unless you like cashing 1/5 horses all day. Plus Gulfstream is one of the more biased and unfair tracks there is when it comes to inside speed types. Pimlico sucks because they gouge the customers with high takeout, high tickets prices, etc., and never give anything back as far as racing quality goes even though they are one of the 10 most bet tracks in North America. I don't want to say it because it used to be my hometown track, but Assiniboia Downs stinks with their high takeout, annoying track announcer, and plus I can barely ever cash a bet there because it also has a strong inside bias a lot of days.

Broberg runs tons of horses at the tracks in that mid south area of the US. Remington, Evangeline Downs, Lone Star Park, Delta Downs, etc. If there is a racing meet going on in the Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma area, Broberg is sure to have entries in most of the races during it. He's also a heartless slimeball and notorious drug cheat from what I've heard.

Haha w/ a name like Broberg I'm not surprised he's a douche. Thanks for the info as always Shark.

@t6p, @BluntTrauma21

Just went with the WP ratings for tonight's races. FCS seems to be the underperforming category of the two, plus it also contributes too much to finding either the short priced horses in the first place or the ones who are going to be bet down. Also took the FHP and SHP ratings from each horse's best two recent races at a similar distance as today. WP done the same way I've been doing it for the last week or so.

Thank you sir. Going with:

Race 5: #1 Kingsville
Race 7: #11 Main Road
Race 9: #3 Panic Button

Holy shit, some of the people in the contest actually hit that 70/1 shot last night and gained over $240 on just that race alone. One of the guys who hit it started the day in 920th place and is now sitting 1st overall. Wow, it must be nice. Haha. Yeah, screw them all.

I'm playing all longshots today, T. Not sure who yet, but this conservative strategy I've had for the last few days hasn't worked out well at all. I think my horses have won 4 of the last 9 races yet I think I've dropped 200 spots in the process because they all got bet down a bunch or were short "safety picks" to begin with.

Oh god. We're fucked Shark.

Oh god. We're fucked Shark.

Haha. Don't say that, T. All we have to do is hit our own 70/1 bomber and then we're right back in it. Should be easy enough.

Nah, you're right, T. We're fucked.

Makes sense bud. I'm gonna roll with what I picked for today but I think you're right, we have no choice but to play longshots to get back in this thing.

I just put these in, T;

#6 High Above 20/1
#11 Main Road 12/1
#5 The Psychic 12/1

We don't have much to lose now.

Thanks for the numbers, Shark. I went with the 1/11/3 horses. I forgot to play the first day of the contest which didn't help. So stupid of me but that's normal for me to have no common sense. Name is oldsoul on there btw, sitting right behind the leaders in 1003rd place, stalking, waiting for my moment to pounce on them down the stretch, just like the ponies do.

I can believe you're just sitting waiting to make your move, Blunt, knowing your affinity for the off the pace types. And it's about time you gave us your name over there. Now T and I know who we have to put the block on as the contest nears the finish line.
