The only important thing that would have changed if Yoel got the 10 - 8 is a Guaranteed rematch

Massive Robert fan here and I personally had it as a draw giving Yoel the last 10 - 8.

With that being said, to be the Champ you have to A. Make weight B. Beat the Champ so even if Yoel made weight and the judges gave the last 10 - 8 Rob would have still walked out the Champ.

No such thing a guaranteed. If this sold anything like the first fight is unlikely you'd see these 2 in the cage together again.

If they called it a draw, who would you book in the next fight? You think Chris Vs Rob will pull bigger numbers? You think Rob Vs Kelvin will pull better numbers? I get that nothing is guaranteed but this fight will be the one they would want to book if that happened since there was a story. Then you could rebook the Chris Vs Kelvin to see the next challenger.

He shouldnt have got a TS off a missed weight in the first place. Miss twice in a row and you need to move up. Remember the man is in his 40's.

Who would you have given it to instead?

Luke? (just lost the Yoel) Chris? (1 - 4) Kelvin? (lost to 1 - 4 recently)

After two consecutive title fight weight misses you don't get another title fight.

I scored it a draw, i was rooting for Whittaker but yeah for me the last round is a 10-8, but even in a scenario where that fight is scored a draw i would be against a third fight, because Yoel missed weight TWICE in a row now, and Whittaker would be 1-0-1 against him. Why a third fight? Fuck Yoel, make him man up and fix his shit, get 2 or 3 wins before a new shot, or send him to light heavyweight.

In my opinion Whittaker should fight Gastelum next and Yoel needs to make a weight at first and fight Jacare.
Then the winner against winner is the fight to make.

Is gus the number 1 contender?

And if Yoel beat him, a 1-1 mw would be?

    Lhw is talent shallow.

yeah same as that, big Whittaker fan and had the 5th as a 10-8, so clearly a draw. the problem is the rules are too vague as to what a 10-8 round looks like, unlike boxing. Don't feel bad for Yoel as he missed weight again but I do want to see these guys at it again at some point

Whittaker saying that there won't be a trilogy, or certainly not yet, which is understandable. Romero needs to prove he can make the weight before he is considered for another title shot. if he can, and Rob is still champ then it will happen again. I don't see Rob losing anytime soon, and I don't see anyone lasting 3 rounds with Romero either so hopefully we can have this fight again some time next year

Considering how low the tickets sales were, its not guarenteed at all they would do it asap. Seems like casual fans don't care yet about Robert.

He's on a 2 fight winstreak against the former champ and highly touted Jacare. Chris needs to heal up.

I would not have been upset about either a Rob win or a draw, but def don't think a third fight so soon would have been the best course of action.

He was overlooked a long time and his loss to Yoel was controversial + he is not a spring chicken too, so lets get him a chance one more time. He was on 8-fight winning (5-0 UFC)streak when he fought Romero.
    Other Top contenders:

Weidman - 1-3 in his last four, I would match him up against Branch
    Mousasi - left for Bellator
Brunson - need atleast 1 quality win
Rockhold - injured and moving to LHW
Machida - need atleast 1 quality win
