I agree those are three super weak cards, but at the same time they're a UFC on Fox card (and Fox is getting the worst of the UFC's table scraps at this point) plus Belem and Perth, which are not cities that are going to get top shelf fights. These would have been shit cards any time in the 2010s.

I'm sure that a lot of the fights on those cards despite the name value will deliver on entertainment value as most of the time when sherdog bitches about the weakness of an event that those events tend to have some of the more exciting fight of the year on them .

    So:

Ronaldo Souza vs. Derek Brunson => I have no idea why they make this rematch. Jacare should have fought a more ranked guy. They are trying to hype Brunson.
Mirsad Bektić vs. Godofredo Pepey => this might be funny, a lot of air punches
Lyoto Machida vs. Eryk Anders => They are trying to hype Anders.....but who is Anders???
John Dodson vs. Pedro Munhoz => BW is cool and this might be cool as well
Yoel Romero vs. Luke Rockhold => yes, Rockhold cannot skip Romero, I am glad for that
Mark Hunt vs. Curtis Blaydes => They are trying to hype Blaydes. Why not making a fans fight Hunt - Arlovski?
Tai Tuivasa vs. Cyril Asker => Tuivasa can be the next Hunt

But yeah, you are right, you can barely make a good PPV.

Judging by how native Chinese promotions work, I imagine it would be a bunch of American, European, and Brazilian UFC fighters brought over to China to lose to Sanda practitioners in matches that are either incredibly preferential matchups or outright worked fights.

    Fight night cards are fine.

221 card is really shit for a PPV though.

Too much quantity and not enough quality. Did 2017 even build any super stars? Maybe Holloway a little but he is awful on the mic/tv

UFC should invest in cloning, and get rid of every division but 170 and then clone Mike Perry by the dozens so that Mike Perry fights on every match on every card.

We would never see a bad card ever again

Wtf? Is wrong with people these days? What so weak about the cards? Becuase your casual eyes cant recognize every name or there isnt three title fights ever ppv its shit? Lol..you gotta begin to wonder and yourself are really a fan of the sport of just certain fighters?.. i can find intriguing and potentially fun match ups on everycard posted here..

I get it Bektic is good but wtf is he doing at a -650 against a very dangerous Godofredo Peppey?? That’s seems insane.

I think Holloway has some charisma, but I agree he isn't a huge personality on the mic. Ultimately though, that's only 1/3 of what makes a star, and the other two parts are "keep winning" and "have an exciting style." Conor has all three, but Chuck Liddell got by without ever being a sizzling interview, and GSP was boring on the mic AND in the cage, at least after the Serra loss.

It seems a little much for someone a little chinny like Bektic. Still, on paper Bektic should give him the business.

top 3 fights of 221 are ok. Hyped for Romero-Rockhold. Other cards are indeed weak.

wouldn't call him chinny, he took a full blown shin bone to the jaw, what do you expect haha

his only downfall is showing off to be honest, hed still be unbeaten if he had gone for the finish against elkins, instead of proving how much better he was

Well, Elkins rocked him badly with a right hand before the kick, that's more what I was referring to.

I completely agree that he could easily have been undefeated though, he was clearly the better fighter.

oh yeah fair enough, and to be fair to you, I think that's the first time his chin has really been tested, so he may have a glass one for all I know too

I hope to see him climb the ladder in 2018 though, but the kid needs to be more active, 10 months since the elkins fight, id have wanted to get back in quick after that
