Fair call I may of been hasty to jump on it, but my comment still stands why do people honestly post legit unboxing videos and why the fuck do people watch (serious) unboxing videos?

He didn't even mention why they came out with it. A portion of the red phone sales go towards HIV and malaria research. That's it. It wasn't supposed to be new hardware or anything like that.

It provides insight for a potential purchase. Or it can help satisfy that "addicted to retail" fix. I know there are a lot of video games i didnt buy because watching a few hours of a lets play was good enough for me.

Off topic ive called off dates after fapping it out to a porn then having 0 desire to go out lol. Porn is good and bad in that way.

Either Apple fears it can't meet demand or it believes that scaring off a horde purchase of the iPhone 8 will prove more profitable in the long run due to market psychology with regard to upgrades (Silicon Valley news sites won't shut up about the "Apple supercycle"). I can't think of any other reason they would use price as a disincentive to scare off buyers. It's definitely gotta be to offset that BOM. It's not like they were making three times the profit that other smartphone sellers make per flagship unit with the status quo BOM & MSRP.
Analyst: Higher iPhone 8 price to help control high demand for new camera features & design, offset BOM

'iPhone Edition' Said to Have Polished Stainless Steel Frame Similar to Apple Watch, Vertical Camera for VR
The blog claims the so-called "iPhone Edition" will use an improved version of the Apple Watch's stainless steel enclosure. It also says the smartphone, more commonly dubbed "iPhone 8" for now, will have a conventionally flat OLED display with 2.5D cover glass along the edges, as rumored previously.

As seen in a few renders over the past few weeks, the report claims the "iPhone Edition" will be equipped with a vertically-aligned iSight Duo camera on the rear for VR shooting purposes. Accordingly, when the iPhone is used in a VR headset, the cameras would be positioned horizontally as is customary.

  • Glass uniframe body (the blog rumor that just broke today in the *Edit Addition* above casts severe doubt that this spec will come to pass-- stainless steel body instead)
  • Edge-to-edge display
  • Wireless Charging

Other rumored major spec upgrades not listed on that page:
  • Sapphire glass display protection (Corning Gorilla Glass is shitting its pants)
  • USB 3.0+ for the new Lightning Port; possibly USB-C compliant
  • IP68 dustproof and waterproof ingress protection rating
  • Shockproof MIL-STD-810G or some other shockproof rating
  • 3D Camera (some form of VR is anticipated)
