People say that, but Foreman was more successful with zero technique.

No one said he's a better boxer, just a harder puncher. That's not to say Foreman didn't hit hard because he was obviously a wrecking ball, but Shavers was regarded as the heaviest puncher in HW history. If the poor bastard had a chin he could've accomplished more.

It's not like Foreman was using skill, he just threw telegraphed haymakers

Can we talk about this?

It's a punching machine measured in "units" - whatever that means.

In the UFC Institute

Tested by UFC fighters. And not even all of them. I'm not saying Ngannou doesn't hit hard, he does, but come on.

They can claim he has the "hardest punch" in the UFC, but as Kenny Florian addressed, there are many different variables there. 1st off, the machine is stationary..which gives you all the timing you need to throw a perfect punch(which is fairy tale stuff when the target is mobile.). Ngannou, or any fighter at that, will never be able to hit that hard considering the angles and speed changes of an opponent. That opponent would have to be dead still..like the machine he punched, which is highly unlikely.
Not saying Ngannou is not a big puncher, but everybody can hit hard depending on the circumstances..especially in the Heavyweight division

Deontay Wilder and it's not even close. No one, i mean absolutely no one can take those shots.

David Tua .

I have the feeling that to receive one of his punch can damage your brain deeply, very deeply

Prime Foreman or Liston likely have the most powerful punches in all of fight game history ....... shows how great "the greatest" really was an why he was punch drunk by the 80s.

Tyson didn't have the raw power of Foreman or Liston imo.

Jesus Christ you are all just a bunch of shit heads. They are a fucking company trying to sell some god damn pay per views. Let them hype their fighter and just shut the fuck up already. They have a machine that tests punching power and Ngannou has the highest rating in it so far. Back the fuck off already.

God damn mother fuckers. Fucking bitter over fucking nothing. Assholes.

Nope.

This is as dumb as it gets. Foreman had excellent skillset from 70s on, is in talk about the best HW Jab in history , fantastic uppercuts, walking hooks, world class parrying game..etc. He doesnt look like SRR while boxing but you really have to have no clue at all about boxing to call that "telegraphed haymakers". Way to embarass yourself.

Also one of the very few who constantly worked on his game even way over 40years old.

He was formed by some of the greatest coaches of all time. Archie Moore with Dick& Sandy Saddler.

The general consensus in boxing is that Ernie Shavers was the hardest puncher.
concensus with who?

I know a bunch of heavies like Ali, a small guy, gave him praise, but FFS, shavers didnt even knock him out.

The Shavers nonsense was just that. He hit guys hard enough that they remembered, not hard enough to put guys away.

Samuel Peter
Tua
Tyson
Foreman
Mercer
Vitali
Lennox Lewis
Wilder

all have demonstrated better power.

Ummm, Ali, Norton, Holmes, Young and Lyle all fought them both and said Shavers hit harder.

Ali had the best chin ever other than Chuvalo, so not knocking him down isn't a surprise.
