The Enigma of Zabit

He’s a good fighter that really does everything. He is from a respectable camp with very good sparring partners such as Edgar, Alvarez, barboza etc etc. I would like to see him against a specialist to see how he handles an opponent that will dictate the pace

Since when is the UFC elite? People should really stop acting like the UFC is elite. There are great fighters in many different organisations. The UFC is just the best marketed.
I actually recommend y´all to watch his early fights at:
ACB
ProFC

and even his amateur fight vs Rakhman Makhazhiev (who beat him)

some legit interesting skill sets... Maybe not 'UFC-ready' [fence work/ground control], but potentially more well-rounded fighters..

Let's talk about the enigma that is Zabit Magomedsharipov at this moment.

I mean, have we ever seen a prospect this well rounded and skilled in the UFC?
This guy is legit elite everywhere.

Maybe 2 more fights and he'll be top 5 or in contention I believe.

How impressive do you find him and what do you think is his ceiling? Any glaring weaknesses you see costing him in the future?

Discuss

He reminds of a an earlier Jones Jones with better striking.

I enjoy watching this dude fight and interested in his fighting future

Fair points. That last fight in the first round he still landed more significant shots though. I guess time will tell us what we need to know

Fightmetric who I trust more than the UFC website has their strikes even in the first round except Davis was alot busier and stuffed Zabit's trip. As well as buckled him with leg kicks repeatedly as well as various other strikes.

That 1st round pretty much sealed Zabit's fate vs top competition.

Similar to
Barao vs McDonald, Wineland.
Stipe vs Reem, JDS 1.
Luke vs Weidman, Branch.
Ronda vs Meisha 2, Bethe.
McGregor vs Mendes, Diaz 2
Anderson vs Leites, Chael 1&2.

I could go on forever using elite fighters that got figured out by watching the holes they present in their wins.

Top competition as in what , top 5 perhaps?
Who exactly could you see him losing to because I don't see a 145er he can't beat.

I didn't say he can't beat anybody. In fact, I literally just said he has a path to victory vs almost anyone. Then again, so does Diego Sanchez. Doesn't mean it's likely.

Zabit has a style that takes alot of energy as well as him being big for the weightclass. He so imevitably fade against top guys. I could see Holloway, Edgar, Ortega, Lamas, Aldo, Mendes likely beating him while guys like Moicano, Bektic, Volkanovski all have a serious chance at beating him in various ways.

He is good but struggled vs unranked 1-3 Bradon Davis, had fight of the night with 2-3 Bochniack(1 of his 2 wins being a split decision) and while FOTN is fun Zabit didn't choose to make it a dog fight. He faded when Bochniack started dictating the pace.

Everyone is amazed at him beating guys who can't win 2 fights in a row while they actually give him a fight. They are wearing the rose colored glasses of his flashy style and him being Russian that they want him to be legit so bad. He is legit a solid fighter but as of right now he would get beat by top 5 no question.
