I know a few people here, myself included played the original. News leaked in the past hour or so that the sequel will be out this fiscal year.

Leaked Press release:

Today, we have an important announcement from the development team of Tom Clancy's The Division for you.

The past few years have been incredible for the team here at Massive ! When we started working on The Division , it was immediately clear to us that we had something very special here and something we really wanted to do right from the start. But we also knew that we would not be able to achieve this ambitious goal without your help.

[Attachment] Since the release of The Division 2 years ago, we have remained true to this philosophy. We have repeatedly used opportunities to interact with you. Be it via livestreams, polls or just social media. Also, the introduction of the Public Test Server was a way to immediately get feedback from you before we implement new extensive features or make changes to the game. We've never stopped striving to make The Division even better, and our recent update 1.8 is testimony to how we can see your overwhelming feedback and support.

All these new opportunities and experiences have also improved the team's internal processes. We have become quicker and can thus respond better to your feedback. But our vision of what matters to us and what makes The Division so memorable for so many people has never been clearer.

However, when we released our game in 2016, it was clear to us that it was just the opening chapter of a much bigger saga, so we're excited to share more with you today about what awaits you in The Division Universe next.

We are very pleased to announce that we are currently working on Tom Clancy's The Division 2 . The development is led by Massive Entertainment and driven by close collaboration with Ubisoft Annecy, Redstorm, Reflections, Ubisoft Bucharest and Ubisoft Shanghai. The Division 2 will be based on an updated version of the Snowdrop Enginethat will help us realize our ambitions for this title. More importantly, we can also invest all the experience we've accumulated over the past two years in this sequel to make sure everything is going well.

But that is not all. The division continues. After the celebrations of our 2 year anniversary, we will support the game with 2 more title updates. These will be 2 brand new Global Events; Include more Legendary difficulty missions and an Xbox One X update that will rediscover the beautiful and emblematic New York City with all its stunning details in both 4K and 1080p.

In addition, as of June 2018, players will also be able to play 'Crests', which are specific achievements that will allow them to unlock The Division 2 rewards.

The teams are extremely grateful for all the support over the past two years and we can not wait to show you what we have planned for The Division 2 during the E3 2018 in June.

the game was a flaming pos for most its life now they are going to do a part 2? hopefully these devs aren't dumb fucks like bungie that some how makes part 2 worse then the first one.

I heard about the massive improvements after two years but I could never get into this. Human bullet sponges was just odd

I remember years ago watching a trailer for the Division and thinking it looked amazing. However, I’ve never played it. Destiny was I think the first game I got on my PS4, played a lot of it from July to October 2015, then never touched it again. Too repetitive and boring. Once I heard the Division was pretty much the same game with a different setting I thought “no thank you”.

Bioware’s Anthem looks to be the same. If it is, I’ll pass on that as well.

The mechanics of the division were great. I regret buying the gold edition. $140 down the drain, not buying #2. Could have been a contender

I liked the division but as others have said its pretty repetitive.

There are some good ideas there, and the game was beautiful though, so I am still somewhat hopeful for Division 2.

No way this is a day 1 purchase. The Division was one of the most disappointing games of 2016. I know they made a ton of improvements to the game but the core gameplay is just incredibly dull.

They are going to have to wow me to get me to come back.

two very different games like said already the people in the division are bullet sponges and 3rd person gameplay makes it like GTAV or Warframe. Destiny on the other hand doesn't have bullet sponges until you go agaisnt ultras or bosses and it has better gunplay too.

I loved playing through the campaign. The second you get to post game it's just repetitive nonsense with bullet sponge enemies.

well, Ubisoft is always full of shit, but i actually like The Division, i only stopped playing because there werent other people playing, but the game is excellent

So you’re suggesting that it’s even worse than Destiny?

Had the makings of a great game. We'll see if it's full potential can be realised in a sequel.

Ubisoft dragged it's goddamn feet when it came to fixing what was broken. It was especially busted on the PC, and all the grinding + the cheating grief squads exploiting glitches to get the best gear and mow down multiple opponents while running solo in the DZ, helped in drying up the fanbase before the game was a year old.

I'm at least somewhat optimistic that with all the positive changes they've apparently made recently, it's a much different (better) game, but I'm still not gonna throw any more money at Ubisoft games at launch, until there's weeks of positive feedback.

I'll be keeping my eye on this, if nothing else.

Ubi has taken the spot EA used to have as my most hated publisher but I actually enjoyed the division a lot.
The devs did bungle almost every aspect of post release by not listening to people about the DZ but then by listening to people on the difficult PVE content.

They had something of a battle royale/survival mode they added that was pretty awesome actually.

it's worse then Destiny but you're trying to make it sound like Destiny was a complete pile of shit did you make to the taken king dlc or just the dark below and house of wolves? You said you played from july of 15 - oct of 15 that's like 3-4 months of a game with a 3+ year lifespan during a period of a content drought. where at the tail end of your play through TTK was released for a stupid price and I could see someone not into a looter shooter saying fuck it and not playing it anymore if they had to buy that dlc.

I think EA still owns that spot thinks to Star Wars Battlefront II and the last Mass Effect game they abandoned.

If you didn't think survival mode was brilliant

in its own unique dynamics between pvp and pve, visibility reduced design, virus death countdown timer and final boss battle

then you're a jaded technologist teenie bopper

with secretly divorced parents waiting for you to get old enough to make their dream a reality

I hated the mix of pvp and pve in this game just because some cunt runs in front of my gun when I'm firing it now I'm a bad guy. Or the stupid twats waiting in front of the dark zone doors to gank solo players fuck that the whole ideal of putting most the endgame shit in an area where pvp is allowed is fucking stupid.
