Geez, I don't know about you, but this is just the sort of tough talk I want from an agency created to protect you and me from the effects of predatory financial practices.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau was created after the financial crisis to protect Americans from being ripped off by financial firms.

    Hooray! BTFO, Consumers!

Protecting the proles from the wealthy is the very last thing he wants to happen.

They don’t even want it to fulfill its statutory responsibilities, that’s BS. Dropping the Equifax investigation should be all the proof anyone needs that the Trump admin has zero interest in doing anything that hurts a big corporation by protecting normal people.

I don't think Trump is sitting there cunningly scheming about ways he can screw people. I think he's out playing golf, and has left much of the work of his entire administration to minions in the republican party - who unsurprisingly, are acting out their donors' wet dreams.

Who appointed Mulvaney (who publicly advocated for the destruction of the CFPB) to run it, again?

My industry is molded by the CFPB and their regulations, and it's a joke. I'd say every client that walks through here has a good $150-$200 extra on their bill due to their regulations. It's a highly funded division, and honestly, I don't think it's very effective. At least not when it comes to real estate and mortgages.

Which regulations? By what mechanism do they raise the price paid by consumers? Is that extra total or monthly?

    Oh, and:
    https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...n-u-s-mortgage-fraud-settlement-idUSKCN0VC1KO

Considering the massive amounts of mortgage frauds and abuses perpetrated in your industry, do you think consumers would be better off without regulation and prosecution of bad actors? Or are you arguing for stronger regulations (the opposite move of Mulvaney)?

Sounds like we are going to save some unnecessary tax dollars here. People need to take responsibly for their own financial decisions and do their own research. Today with the internet and the wealth of information at our fingertips there isn’t any excuse not to be informed.

What do people need protection against? Life is that complicated. Get a mortgage from a reputable lender, invest with someone like Vanguard, don’t live off credit = road to success
