Sparred with a unfamiliar opponent last night. Guy was about a foot smaller than me and quickly assumed a sort of crouched boxing stance, keeping his hands moving all the time and making himself an even smaller target. I couldn't get a good grip on either sleeve, couldn't get inside to go for a collar, and didn't see how I was going to be able to drop low enough to go for a leg.

I have some success with TDs generally but they're definitely not a strength. Frustrated, I ended up doing really lame guard pulls each roll. Surely there must be better options I could work on? Anyone offer any tips?

I enjoy going against larger guys - the troubles I have occur when the larger guy is able to set and maintain the distance between us.

Underhooks, snapdowns, and ankle picks.

Yes but you're going to have a lot more leverage when you get them, and he's probably going to be trying to shoot on your hips anyways, so it's just being proactive.
