Cool. Better pay leads to more productive worker... although it always seems like a ghost town in there when it comes to workers
Self serve registers fucking suck. Seriously, if Target went that route I'd be done shopping there and not to make a statement or anything, but scanning stuff at self checkout is terrible unless you only have a few things.Things they're not telling you.
By 2020, all cash registers will be self serve. There's a new target that just opened up last month here and it's all self serving registers with 1 employee watching the lane of 6-8 registers.
Better check how many employees they have now cuz by 2020, it'll be halved.
Also by 2020, all their merchandise will be increased by 33-50%.
i see more blacks and hispanics at my local Walmart. I don't think those two races vote republican either.
I'd say Walmart caters to more lower working class regardless of race or political affiliation.
we had more manufacturing sectors in our economy then, Unions had more power, and more private sector jobs had pensionsWhy is progress looked down upon?
We automated telephone switches, and many telephone operators lost their jobs. Was that a bad thing?
We automated practically every form of assembly lines and manufacturing, and those people lost their jobs. Is that such a bad thing?
Yes there will be temporary job loss. But in the long term it will be better for the country.
They could do it now, self checkout for every lane. What are they waiting for?
It was a classic from the late great Yogi Berra.
It requires an initial investment, and like I said, they've got to be sure the savings outweigh the losses from the extra shoplifting. They have to do trials with different security options to see if it's worthwhile rolling out further. It's already happened in big cities with low crime-rates.
In London, self checkouts are universal in big chain supermarkets. Lots of the big DIY stores are now doing the same, and so are some of the fast food chains.
The UK seems to have quite happily accepted them, but the US might be different if there's a big enough political/social backlash against them.
so poor black people in the South shop at upscale retail stores?I agree. I should have made that clear. Poor people shop at Wal-Mart and republicans in many ways make up the word poor at least in many areas in the south

Looks like target pricing will increase. Time to shop elsewhere.
I will shop at Target or Costco for items I cannot get at American Giant.
That's a stupid statement to make. Why would right wingers see this as negative? It's not being forced on them by socialist democrats.Great for them. Only right wingers will see this as a negative. I don't mind paying a little more for goods if their employees can all make 15 bucks an hour. Win for everyone!!
As a matter of fact most conservatives I'm sure shop at Wal-Mart so we shouldn't be seeing many opinions from them in here

There should be objection when it's forced on all businesses big and small by the government. This is Target taking the Costco route which is their personal decision as a business.I don't know why do conservatives always object to minimum wage increases?

The people of walmart > the people of Target.Good, another reason Target > Wal-Mart. Any time I have to step inside a Wal-Mart, I need to be Baker Acted until the depression wears off.
