3 people killed within a 1 mile radius from Oct 9th to Oct 19th, another shot today (11/14)

They were targeted simply walking home from a local bus route. Police believe the shooter lives in the area. As the community was beginning to get hopeful that the threat was past, a seeminly random 60 year old man was shot dead only blocks from where the other murders took place

Police have been going door to door canvasing the neighborhood but have not located any suspect

Damn. This is a community rightfully paralyzed by fear. 4 people shot dead simply walking on the sidewalks. It's not safe to go outside out all. Even concealed carrying there's not much to do when a random stranger comes up from behind and shoots you with no warning. You'd have to treat every person you see or pass as a potential serial killer. Massive police presence has been in the area since the 2nd shooting, but that only delayed the 4th kill. They were on scene almost immediately, but weren't able to catch the killer. Passerby has a description of someone wearing an all black hoodie and pants which doesn't do a whole lot of good

some reports say this latest victim was on his way to feed the homeless at a local church as he did most Tuesdays :(

Good. Hopefully they have the right guy and that area can have some peace and not live in fear any longer.

Really weird how they picked him up though. Sounds like he asked a McDonalds Manager to hold his gun for him? Wtf. Story doesn’t indicate how the police made the connection from this blatant idiot to being their serial killer

He’s described as a black male. I’ll be waiting for the gun violence outrage to commence in this thread

Scary shit to think of having your lights turned out before you even know it. Reminiscent of the DC sniper.

Local PD are under a lot of pressure; the Mayor has publically called for the shit-bag's, "head on a silver platter".

It’s not a racial issue as far as the perpatrator goes. The racial issue is only very select crimes from white males get the anti-gun crowd in a tither.

In particular, mass shootings. There is a level of spectacle there that draws enormous attention for good reason. People are much less interested in daily violence, because it bores them. It's not memorable.

In a way it is like the Ray Rice domestic violence situation. Professional athletes were constantly being accused of domestic violence and nobody really raised too much of a fuss until finally it was caught on camera and caused a spectacle. Suddenly there was universal outrage.

Our society needs to start focusing on daily tragedies as much as these big events, because a lot of the time that is where the most damage occurs.

Correct and by the standard the media uses to equate “mass shootings”, throwing numbers out in the hundreds, a large portion of those are gang related. But there’s a very select outrage over what gun crimes people focus on. For the record I agree with your post but society isn’t as fault as much as the news. They could make this a larger issue than it is if they truly cared

I agree. People tend to care about the things that the media tells them they should care about. If you control what topics are covered, and how much time is spent on those topics, then in many ways you control thought.

I know you're kind of disconnected from healthy reality, but normal people don't generally associate the threat of serial killers with the general threat of guns.
