Movies James Gunn's SUPERMAN (Logo Revealed, post #596)

Seems right.

The 'S' on his chest doesn't seem like one they'd go with.

I think Gunn made a poll asking if Superman should have 'trunks'... like the red underwear... and it had overwhelming approval from the voters, like 80%+.

Personally, I loved Henry Cavil's trunkless design.

Trunks, to me, are extremely childish and have always hated them on all superhero costumes regardless if they're on Superman, Batman, Wolverine... or even pro-wrestlers.

With Batman, the last live-action version to have them was the 60s TV show, and I could take Batman far more seriously in his movies ever since.

Seriously, imagine if Tim Burton's Batman movies, or in Nolan's Batman movies he had trunks.
But if.. pro wrestlers didn't wear trunks they'd be naked. Is that what you want to see?

I think he actually has the potential to be the best live action film rendition of Luthor. I didn’t think any of them were bad in the role, other than Eisenberg. Good actor, I assume he was mainly doing what Snyder and co wanted out of the character. Hell, Hackman was really fun and memorable but I just didn’t see a whole lot of menace there. Most of these Luthors are a bit too comedic in my opinion.

And Hackman can absolutely do menace. It was a weird case of him and Beatty operating as though they were in a different film. The rest of the movie just seemed quite tonally distinct from their scenes. The funny thing too is that Hackman Luthor’s plan was intense and horrific but all the build up to it is pretty silly.

Now, don’t get me wrong, Hoult is highly adept at comedic performance in films that aren’t necessarily straight up comedies. So it probably hints at his Luthor being another sort of amusing one. But I just have this feeling that he’s going to find the right balance and knock it out of the park.
i was already totally in for Hoult playing Lex once the casting was announced because i’m a low key Hoult stan tbh

just had trouble working up a visual w/ him in the role. now that problem is solved

Wendell Pierce Cast as Perry White in James Gunn's SUPERMAN

Great Caesar’s Ghost, Perry White has been found. Wendell Pierce, perhaps best known for his work as a detective on HBO’s seminal crime series The Wire, has been cast as the iconic editor-in-chief of The Daily Planet in James Gunn's Superman.

The new feature based on the DC Comics character began rolling in Atlanta on Thursday. It was previously titled Superman: Legacy.

David Corenswet is starring as Clark Kent/Superman, with Rachel Brosnahan playing Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane. The cast also includes Nicholas Hoult as classic villain Lex Luthor.

The character of Perry White is a Man of Steel fixture, first introduced in a Superman radio serial in 1940. He is the boss of both Kent and Lane, and depending on the incarnation, can be a tough-as-nails boss, the harried-by-his-reporters boss, or a father-figure boss. The character has been played on the big screen by Jackie Cooper (in the Christopher Reeves movies), Frank Langella (in Bryan Singer’s take) and Laurence Fishburne (in the Snyderverse movies of the 2010s).

Rounding out Gunn’s cast is Skyler Gisondo (Jimmy Olsen), Sara Sampaio (Eve Teschmacher), Edi Gathegi (Mister Terrific), Terence Rosemore (Otis), Anthony Carrigan (Metamorpho), Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl), Nathan Fillion (Guy Gardner) and María Gabriela de Faría (The Engineer).

Pierce was most recently seen in the Amazon series Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, where he played Clancy mainstay character James Greer. He also did a stint on Starz’s Power Book III: Raising Kanan.

They race swapped perry white again, however i do like wendell and think it suits him great choice.

While that pic is likely fake...we should be getting pics soon since they started filming now

The more I look at that picture, the more I think it's not fake.

Can we all just marvel at how fucking big David Cornset got in a short amount of time?

He's now bigger than Cavil. He's on that special hollywood horsemeat diet.

I stopped worrying about actors not being muscular enough for a part all the way back when they took the skinny guy from Two Guys, a Girl and Pizza Place and made him the size of a brick shit house for Blade Trinity.

Is this the same James Gunn who did PG Porn?

That shit was hilarious
