SUMO - 2016 Aki Basho (Sept. 11th - 25th) (bonus GAME hosted by Gorgonon)

if the sumo federation wants to shit on the rank of yokozuna, then sure.

but i doubt they want a yokozuna that make-koshi's on a regular basis.

Day 14- Excellent showing by goueido. Endo looking awesome. Can't wait until tomorrow.

Man, I hope Tochinoshin recovers soon. Hate to see him hurt so bad.

And woo! Goueido pulled it off.

Mitakeumi, Nishikigi, Shoudai, and Endou are all looking really strong. I think we know the next batch of Ozeki coming up the ranks.

Day 15.

Some great matches. And some history is made.

Awesome tournament! Goeido was on point. I hope this continues.

On to some slightly related sumo news, Baruto fought last night. Here is the video if you haven't seen it.

Well, it looks like the Champion of the first Basho Bonus Game is none other than our Thread leader, @GoForkYourself!!! He predicted 11 exact records for the Rikishi!!!

JjRBfkc.gif

Goeido is truly a gracious Champion [much like Fork is for letting me do this Game!]:

Here's some other awards of note:

"The Outstanding Performance Prize went to top-ranked Okinoumi (9-6), who won the honor for the first time. Sekiwake Takayasu (10-5) earned his third Fighting Spirit Prize, while No. 14 Endo received his first Technique Prize after finishing with the second-best record of the tournament at 13-2."

http://www.japantimes.co.jp/sports/...s-goeido-ends-basho-15-0-record/#.V-ytpaj6qb8

-------

I thought Okinoumi definitely deserved that award because of his consecutive upsets against the Upper-Rankers he had at the start before he went into a slump.

Takayasu should just have the Fighting Spirit Prize named after him, he's so cool, and finally seeing Endo, and for my perspective, Chiyoshoma and Mitakeumi, exceeding expectations and have a great Basho, it was just a great time!
