Can't say I'm much into summer songs, I'm more an autumn/winter kinda person when it comes to music. But I happen to love Saint Etienne (especially their album So Tough, which is among my favorite albums of all times). And I happen to love this (summerish sounding)song of theirs too, from their newest album.
For the Turnstiles
"All the bush league batters
Are left to die on the diamond.
In the stands the home crowd scatters
For the turnstiles..."
"DeVoe sat in the control room and quietly listened to the recordings, and pressed the band at the end on why there was no 'Blink-182 good-time summer anthem [thing]'. DeLonge and Hoppus were furious, remarking, 'You want a fucking single? I'll write you the cheesiest, catchiest, throwaway fucking summertime single you've ever heard!' Hoppus went home and wrote 'The Rock Show' in ten minutes, and DeLonge similarly wrote 'First Date', which became the most successful singles from the record and future live staples."
Summer Song by Satriani
Was just on at the store I was at, reminds me of how much I always liked Billy Ocean.
