So that makes him 0-2 against Barao who will probably have that belt until Faber retires.

It would have been nice to actually see the outcome of a fight in that title shot.

Faber is pretty clear top 2-3 and seems to walk thru top ten guys. We won't see a rematch so he is going to have to hope someone beats Barao, which ain't happening.

    What a fucking letdown.

Let's wait and see if Dana rants and raves about it before we write Faber's title hopes off completely.

I felt bad for him. He couldn't move his left hand unless he wanted to get hit and his right was stuck in under a leg. Guess he could of sprawled and tried to jump up.

I expect Aldo and Barao to both move up.

I think Cruz v Faber 3 for the 135 belt might happen at some junction.

We have the benefit of different camera angles and replays. Herb had to make that call on the spot, and it's easy to see why he thought that Faber wasn't intelligently defending himself.

Yeah it kind of sucks. Maybe he'll at least be considered in the next contender fight kind of thing.

Faber is still the #2-#3 BW in the UFC. He won't fight Dillashaw and I really don't see any other BW that would give him fits.

    LOL

Stop crying, Faber gets a title shot once a year. He wasn't even supposed to be in this fight yet it happened.

Well. When Aldo moves up. Renan will move up. If he is still fighting by then.

Why would Barao move up? Has he had problems making weight before? Has cardio ever been an issue for him?

Every hammer fist is being blocked. How can u defend yourself any smarter in that position?

The fighter in the bad position has to take the initiative to get themselves out. I know Faber wasn't 'out' and the strikes weren't particularly damaging but what was Herb meant to do? Let Barao spend the rest of the time hammer fisting Faber's hand? Faber needed to move more than just his thumb.

Dude, you don't move just because someone tells you to do so. He was waiting for the opportunity to get out of that spot, but sadly he wasn't give time to do so. You can't tell a fighter to improve his position and don't give him enough time to do so. I would understand if Faber was barely defending himself, but that clearly wasn't the case here.

I hate when fighters talk to ref's and urge them to make that stoppage.

It could keep him more relevant, than if he got finished clean.

    So he lost to Barao.
    But that was a replacement!

I understand people will claim he got too many title shots.
But IMHO it is unfair when someone is a replacement, and (in case of a loss), he has to get back to 1-2 more years just to get back to a title contention!

    What do you think?
With 1-2 more wins (over top 10), can/should Faber get another title shot?
