Work experience. Rape is pretty much never a spur of the moment thing where someone gets really mad and butt rapes a stranger for cutting them off in traffic.

That would be scary.

From the article I feeling that the results of this study are highly influenced by the existing culture in India.
Which isn't to say they would be applicable to rapists all over the world, but I imagine you would see different rationals for the crime and even different levels of empathy depending on the culture of that particular society.
