There are a lot of Democratic/liberal power families and individuals that support gay marriage, abortion,etc and don't use their religion to justify bigotry. Pelosi, the Kennedys, the Clintons, the Obamas, etc They are probably more common on the coasts. They are probably out numbered by conservative christian bigots but liberal religious people still exist in politics. Dennis Kucinich is another. He is christ like. Fighting for the little guy. They tend to be Catholic. The more liberal Christians on the coasts or blue states.

The funny thing is these same people who make these claims about Christianity would NEVER in a million years make similar claims about Islam. Only Richard Dawkins is brave enough to do that.

Those who believed it was their duty to the God of Abraham to be as honest as possible, who were so incensed over what they had seen and heard, and who wrote down many accounts to make sure the record lived on, were all completely fabricating everything based on modern notions of race, class, and gender struggle.

From the intensive fury and gnashing of teeth that this thread has caused, here is something troubling to consider: The historical Christian/Jewish primary sources say either 1. "Magic happened" or 2. "Magic happened but it was really bad magic and we don't like it" while the secondary sources written later say primarily 1. or 2. according to Christian or Jewish texts.

In the end you are largely going to believe what you want to believe, and that is the greatest of gifts.

What is the Catholic Church if not corruption hidden by facade, and balanced by legitimacy.

Catholics are a fucking fraud, and they know it. That ceremony and pomp is ridiculous. At the same time they are also the largest organization in the world in relieving human suffering.

Huh? They don't throw acid on folks they disagree with, that's a weird reduction of the facts. In London, it's mostly gang related and the others seem to be misogynistic. That's not a disagreement.

In Belgium, the cases that have been in the news the past couple of years were one random attack on a woman and a grumpy ex-boyfriend, none of who were muslim.

Except Islam historically got its shit pushed in when Christians mustered any real effort. Muhammadism filled the vacuum of weakness in North Africa and the mid east left behind by the Romans. Turks were moderately successful warriors and largely relied on infighting of christians and stealing children of subjugated Anatolian and Balkan christians to fill their ranks. They lost dozens of great battles on land and sea to vastly inferior numbers of christians who were much fiercer warriors.

When Christendom mobilised, the Muslims were running to the hills. This goes for the Arabs and the Turks. The same when the Mongols arrived on the scene and whooped their asses (until the Khagan’s conversion) and so on.

Islam is good at murdering and forcing civilians into submission and cultural rape. It was historicaly a religion for bandits and warlords like Muhammad and Omar etc.
 
It's more like: poverty and serfdom were unavoidable, religion helped people cope with their circumstances.
 
I wonder what Jesus and Muhammad would say today if they knew their lies and bullshit were responsible for hundreds of millions of deaths in the past 2000 years.
