I’ll almost never take Dana’s side over a fighter, but Stipe has been notoriously difficult to work with for promotion, shuns fame, has contract holdouts, and clearly holds grudges. Yes the UFC could have and should have done, and should do, a better job of promoting Miocic, but I can see why they would want someone else in the role of HW champ.

It's not Stipe's job to promote fights. It's Dana's. Stipe had a highlight reel full of knockouts over top 10 guys. If Dana can't use that to drum up excitement, he's a terrible promoter.

I can only imagine what goes on behind the scenes....

From any objective point of view, it's quite clear there is a rift between the two, and some of the reasons why are fairly obvious....

Dana has done virtually nothing to promote Stipe since day 1, and has gone out of his was to promote his opponents, and even at times pay them more money even though he's the champ...

Since it's Dana, I'm sure he'll find more ways to fuck up the relationship he has with one of the best fighters his organization has ever seen.
