Starz's AMERICAN GODS (Returns March 10, 2019)

Very good. I recommend it.

Although, there's a particular reveal that's telegraphed early and if you don't spot it on the first read you'll be kicking yourself for not noticing it for years to come.

I wonder how they'll handle it on the show.
Hmm interesting. I think I might read this next. I was a huge fan of The Sandman.

Who here has read the book? Any good?
if you plan to watch the show I highly recommend you read the books AFTER the show.

Look at every book to TV or Movie adaption that is beloved and the only people who hate on it typically are the ones who read the books first. That is because the books have the ability to have far more layers and the TV or Movie always falls short of expectations.

I mean, it isn't even debatable that even the most beloved shows such as Game of Thrones are absolutely hated on by guys who read the book and expect the Eyrie to be MORE daunting and the Mountain to be bigger and thus hate on the show because of that.

The books almost always add and fill holes in for the show and you never hear of anyone hating on the books when they loved the TV or movie adaption.

I see your point and I agree some what. I remember enjoying all the extra details in the books of ASOIAF after seeing GOT. Thnx

I once bought the book because the story sounded great. Read the first 30 pages and realized reading isn't for me. So for years i didn't find out what was gonna happen in American Gods. This show will be amazing. Can't wait.

April 30th can't come soon enough.

Ready my body is.

I'll give it a whirl. The book held my attention but is definitely a little bit overrated.

I love that Dane Cook is Robbie, I hope to fuck we see him die violently and in the first episode and never see him again...

I wonder if I get Starz ......

I liked the novel, sl this + Better Call Saul could make for a solid April.

Didn't even remember Mad Sweeney. Still can't, but the name rings a definite bell. What was his deal in the books? (Spoiler tags recommended).

Unimpressed that Jonathan Tucker doesn't have a bigger role due to shooting Kingdom. He's in about three scenes apparently but will be in it if it goes through with a second season.

Mad Sweeney looks cool, one massive leprauchun! It looks like they're taking risks with the casting. Hopefully it will pay off. I hate prehype for tv shows.

Brofist.

Jonathan Tucker is one of the most underrated actors alive today. I'm having trouble wrapping my head around what the hangup is with Hollywood. Usually it's a lack of attractiveness or late discovery, but that isn't the case here. He's got all the chops in the world and they keep hiring pretty faces that don't. Sometimes it's a lack of interest or an inability to keep things together off-set, but I don't think that's it.

I guess it's because they took a big budget run with him in a lead role in The Black Donnelly's, which flopped horribly, and that scares them off. Well, they're wrong to blame him. He was great in that show. It was the show that didn't connect with people. It didn't get its feet until it was too late in the first season. Can't do that when you spend that kind of money on marketing and production.

Watch the Opening Title Sequence for AMERICAN GODS

Very cool. The music and energy reminded me of the opening from David Fincher's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

holy shit, they are actually going to get this right.

I had my doubts, but damn -- they seem to be on point.

Woo. I like it, Madmick. I didn't know that about The Black Donnellys.

He seems to be an underdog in the industry. Maybe people keep seeing him as the guy from 100 first dates or whatever that soft porno was.

It's a shame, The Black Donnellys was epic and why I became a fan. We need more pensive male actors, they are the best. Keane Reeves, Heath Ledger etc.

He has charisma, maybe it comes off the wrong way in person idk. He's still doing cool projects. I'm so glad Jay Cullena wasn't a Conor McGregor cutout. It worried me he would be.

I see the promo everytime I watch Black Sails. The promo makes it look great so I'm somewhat intrigued even though I just learned the actual backstory from the TS.

Also Swearengen Cocksucker.

Think I might actually like this TV series better than the book. Beyond the concept, the book wasn't all that good really. At least not compared to Sandman. The TV series looks as if they put some effort into refining the source material and adapting it for the screen.
