I'm kind of hoping Phasma doesn't take off the helmet in last jedi. It completely ruined the bad arse mystique of boba fett.

Keep the helmet on please. I so don't like that General Hux guy, character, age, look of the actor.. nothing they dropped the ball on the casting and character design with that one in my opinion.

PS: They moved the scar on Kylo's face it seems. (in before 20 years from now we have a different version of Force Awareness when they do the same scene but re make it so it fits with the new scar location no more on the bridge of the nose).

Rey and Luke look good I guess, whats the deal with that freaking staff do we need to wait till 2019 to see it light up, Luke my man you need some new stuff that potato sack covering you is a little outdated.

RIP Leia. :(

I hear your complains.. yes it lacked a tad in originality it was more of a hybrid reboot.

It was very risky to start too different they wanted to get the old fans base back on board and for the new generations to have this updated version to start their own Star Wars fandom.

I'm very confident that this EP 8 will be a lot more original and they have the 'space' to go for it now.

All they had to do was recreate the look/feel of the OT and give it a good story.

Not recreate the look/feel/story of ANH, albeit vastly inferior.

Not to mention for some strange reason she looks to be in her 60s.

Well mostly they pulled it off imo.

They lack on originality so yea it ain't close to anything perfect but it got the job done.

Vanity Fair has revealed their extensive cover story for the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi and hidden inside it are some new pieces of information about the upcoming film, including details on new characters and places that our favorites will find themselves at.

First up, where things ended in The Force Awakens and start in The Last Jedi is the planet of Ahch-To, where the outlet reveals that Luke isn’t alone standing on that rock in the ocean but living among an “indigenous race of caretaker creatures.” These creatures, which director Rian Johnson assures are “not Ewoks,” live in “beehive-shaped huts” (pictured above), similar to what the ancient monks that actually lived on the location of Skellig hundreds of years ago would live in.

Another place is the “glittering casino city” called Canto Bight, which will see Finn and newcomer Rose Tico finding themselves in as the story progresses. Johnson calls it “a Star Wars Monte Carlo–type environment, a little James Bond–ish, a little To Catch a Thief.”

“It was an interesting challenge, portraying luxury and wealth in this universe,” he revealed. “I was thinking, O.K., let’s go ultra-glamour. Let’s create a playground, basically, for rich *ssholes.”

There are also some more details on the new characters from the film, including the one played by Benicio Del Toro, who actually won’t be named throughout The Last Jedi‘s runtime. Described as “a ‘shady character’ of unclear allegiances,” Johnson reveals that internally they’ve referred to him as “DJ,” the reasoning for which fans will be able to pick up on. There’s also Laura Dern’s character, Vice Admiral Holdo, described as “a prominent officer in the Resistance,” and another new character named Paige, who is the sister of Kelly Marie Tran’s Rose Tico.

Finally, one last piece of relevant info was revealed about the future of Star Wars as the magazine notes that Star Wars: Episode IX, which has Colin Trevorrow behind the camera, is scheduled to begin shooting in January.

Del Toro is so good at acting but still i doubt he could bring back this piece of shit saga from the toilet

Hux's speech might have been my favorite scene in TFA but I do agree. The whole point of the character is to give Kylo another obstacle in his quest to be his grandfather. He is supposed to be intimidated by him to further add to his vulnerability and inexperience as a leader. So shouldn't they have found someone who was a lot older and more physically imposing? Hux looks like he is just as youthful as Kylo so why is he in such good favor with the empire and has more seniority? This would've worked better imo

They probably wouldn't have cast a space general to play another space general but someone along those lines would fit the character better. This would also add to making Kylo look better when he inevitably kills him.

His speech ? or more like the overall scene with the space nazy vibes and visuals cause I didn't bought his lines not even for a second, full on generic stuff to show of the bad side.

Yea don't even get me started on his age and look, that mo'fo' looks 30 and he is the best choice and the best man for the job of leading all the military ? a dude that has been doing the military gig for 10 or so years, clearly power hungry and just looking for rank ups, didn't buy it very weak from them having that character in that way.

For sure the space Nazi vibes and general atmosphere. I did enjoy his "And they will remember this AS THE LAST DAY OF THE REPUBLIC!" rage mode but besides that I don't remember any lines though so that's pretty telling of the speech itself.

Those feels.

Benicio literally looks like he walked off a Heineken shoot haha!

Great pick of Mark and Carrie.

Those party photos almost look like a renaissance-era painting. Very interesting lighting and color editing.

Yeah General Hux is awful. Decent enough actor, but not the right guy to be leading The First Order. And yeah, that speech was cringeworthy. Totally turned it up to 11 on that one.

These pics have peaked my interest the most. And the Del Toro, Lauren Dern characters.

Hux does seem like a classic example of Abrams "younger hipper" casting failing to me, not that Gleeson isn't an excellent actor(watch ex machine for example) but he seems badly miscast in that role lacking the gravitas to pull if off. As a result so much of what the character does just comes across as way over the top for me, especially when compared to Ben Mendelsohn as Krennic in Rogue One.

I'm kind of hoping Rian Johnson shifts the style of the film significant from Abrams anyway, The Force Awakens was reasonably entertaining for a one off cinema visit but honestly I find it has very little weight to it, finally picked it up on DVD last week and struggled to watch it all the way though with all the meta humour and general scattershot style.

Yea I didn't like that character in EP 7. I hope he has better lines and a better look in the next ones but overall the problem is the casting in my opinion and there is only so much you can improve now with him.

Rian Johnson promises that this will be a more grown up themed movie and that originality will be on display in this one now, we shall see but from what I saw of him till now he is a very different type of director then J.J. each of them with strong points and weak points but this film will be of another flavor then what we got so far, this is make or brake time for the new trilogy in my opinion, cause with the first one you got us back, you blended the new with the old set us on paths etc but now it's game time this is where it counts and the closing one is the feel good moment and wrapping everything up and giving us cool moments but the middle is the key this is where the meat is so to say.

Funny thing I liked Rogue One better after walking out of the movie but then watching it again at home I had different enjoyment, lesser then my initial first viewing for me I'm the other way around compared to you I have a much easier time and enjoyment in re-watching Force Awakens.

I also happened to watch Force Awakens with a group of younger kids well young adults or what you call them 19-20 y/o that aren't big into sci fi and only saw the original trilogy in bits and pieces on the TV growing up and all of them enjoyed the movie from a-z and they had 0 complains on the story or originality or soft/reboot feelings etc.. nothing for them it was fresh and great and will gladly see the others.

I overlooked this aspect from Disney they made this into a great standalone for new younger fans they won't know whats what and just take what is presented to them in that moment with no past ramifications, it's kinda great for any new fan that can maybe feel the older ones to outdated or to much work to put into a franchise, like if you have a kid growing up you can just show him ep 7 then move forward and if he really digs it you can get him the late 70's early 80's movies out for him.
