Southpaw or as they call it in Canada Not Another 50 Cent Movie!
Jake Gyllenhal plays Billy Hope, a boxer with an undefeated record and millions of dollars. So the film starts and before we can even see 50 Cent in his final time on the big screen before its back the DVD bin we hit our first problem. Billy Hope does not fight in a southpaw stance.
Eminem was suppose to play Hope originally but he was too busy writing his Logan Paul diss track.
50 Cent sucks in this film.
He is a promoter or manager or some shit.
Billy Hope and his wife were raised in the same orphanage.
So Rachael McAdams plays Billy's wife aka Little Orphan Annie, but not for very long. Because.............
She gets shot and killed at a charity event.
Then Billy turns to drugs and alcohol and wants to kill a boxer who mad-dogged him at the charity event. He plays with a gun for a while in his bedroom alone while his 6 year old daughter sits scared in the next room. "What's daddy gonna do to me grams?"
Nah, he didn't kill anyone. So Billy buries his wife and then finds out the same day he's broke. By 50 Cent of all people. 50 actually does something nice and offers Billy an easy tune-up fight that will give him a nice payday.
Billy shows up to the fight and gets his ass kicked. He never threw a single punch because he was protesting something he forgot to mention. 50 Cent being a producer has another scene where he fires Billy sending him to the slums.
Billy now broke and a bum spends his time drinking and scaring his young daughter who is living who knows where now.
Billy ends up becoming a Janitor at a boxing gym owned by Idi Amin just months after he was a millionaire undefeated ppv draw champion.
Billy trains with Idi and eventually gets another title shot where he wins but still fails to use the southpaw stance.
Overall: 1/5 Would not watch again.
A Better Version: Rocky III
