South Korea Engulfed in Political Chaos: Ousted President Gets 24 Years In Prison For Corruption

Poor Samsung.

Been taking nothing but L's since the HD-DVD failure. They're gonna file for bankruptcy before the decade is out.

I think you're may be confusing them with Toshiba.

Samsung is actually a founding member of the Blu-ray Disc Association in the great HD format war.

Even with the exploding Note battery fiasco, their annual profits is still staggering, raking in tens of billions spreading over many industries. I don't think most people realize how big Samsung really is.

That's all of asia dude, corrupt assholes.

I bet she had the second biggest collection of rhino horn or tiger penis in the world.

Not b/c she needed or wanted it, or less the fact that it's all fufu crap, but a rhino horn in itself is a commodity.
Tbh its not even this kooky president that changed my view of S.Korea. Yeah its a shitshow but she's a lone loon. Its the extent of corruption as demonstrated by the other presidents before her and the leniency shown towards the business leaders who engage in crimes like bribery and tax evasion. That's some Mickey Mouse shit.

blatent bribery isn't illegal in asian countries, as long as it's covert, it's just how things get done. which is why western business and code of ethics and transparency find it difficult to do business with asian countries cuz they're not allowed to bribe, there was a term for it...

I always found that war to be hilarious since it was clear that disc formats were already dying at that time.
once the porn industry announced they were going to be exclusively bluray in 2006

hd-dvd was dead.

I wonder if this specific kind of Asian corruption is part of the success of countries like S.Korea and the other Asian Tigers. You know, a certain consensus is built between the business and political elite that's mutually beneficial for them and the country as opposed to other places like the Middle East where the political and economic elites just suck up to Westerners at the expense of their people.

Asian companies are so strange in their makeup.

Manufacturing tech like smart phones and tablets as well as refrigerators and dishwashers.

They were more than just friends he was Rohs Chief of staff and share the same backward policies on North Korea and economy. Moon is North Korean and believe its more important to maintain diplomacy with North Korea with intention of reunifying than with United States who they see as a nosey third party. One of his campaign promises is to visit Kim in Pyongyang before meeting Trump.

Roh was the exact same way and you saw hostilities from North Korea increase when Roh took government.

I am familiar he was in his cabinet. I'm also familiar with the internal conflicts he had with Ahn when the new party was formed some years ago, he seems open to ideas in the very least. The whole event could be a blessing in disguise, even though the party fragmented somewhat in the end Ahn and Kim created another party that could only serve to help the korean people in more ways then one now that they have more options and more diverse ideas for the political spectrum.

Is all of the Liberal movement in South Korea communist? Is there any policy they have that would aid the Korean people?

Moon is South Korean, he was born in Geoje.

Does that really matters? it was clear that there would be no massive adoption of Blu-ray, HD televisions were just coming out on the scene, most existing TVs couldnt display the increased quality, people were plugging their Blurays with RCA connectors so the quality potential was not being used while the prime for a bluray was insane.

These suits used to having the highest end on their homes couldnt realize that people adopted the expensive DVD not because of quality of image but because it provided a shitload more convenience, the fact that you didnt needed to rewind the tape was enough for me to buy a DVD player.

DVD to Bluray only offered an improved image that most displays were not able to handle, most people didnt gave a fuck and now that hd technology is widely adopted we have internet streaming.

that's not a fringe approach to commerce if you dig deep enough, with refrigeration they use smart phone app technology to assist the technician in troubleshooting refrigeration equipment or appliances. These things can range from commercial to industrial grade. They are diversifying their products to be more competitive.

It' similar to Brazil in how the military when they were power was dealing in bribery like kids passing candy. The habit and culture permeated and stuck into any political formation even till today. Corruption is part of the human condition, you can only suppress it, you cannot eliminate it entirely.

Outside of the well-known brands of consumer goods (like electronics and appliances) as well as semiconductor (computer chips), those giant Asian conglomerates always have a "Heavy Industries" division that most American consumers don't know about.

Fun Fact: Samsung Heavy Industries is the 2nd biggest shipbuilder in the world, particularly adept at producing those huge container ships carrying enormous amount of consumer goods from Asia to America/Europe.

His parents were refugees from the north. His family is north korea and they have sympathies forcreunification and feel that Americas involvement hinders that process.

His campaign is not much different.

Weren't they into it before the integration?

They also build luxury buildings.

I edited my post i didn't have enough time to add more, as i am at work.

His parents are North Korean, still he is South Korean. If anything he is sympathetic with the North Korean people that are suffering over there, but not empathetic to negatively affect the South Korean people. I don't think he would be this evil trojan horse that is aiding the North Korean leader.

I think so I'm not entirely sure, but they probably crunched some numbers and realized they had some money to spare and take risk in a new market. I suppose it's paying off, whatever they learned from smart phones they implemented somewhat into Refrigeration systems.

These conglomerates often starts out as a trading company, doing businesses in a variety of markets. That diversed portfolio only expands as they grow.

Before they leaped into electronics in the 1960s and shipbuilding in the 1970s, Samsung was known as a fabrics manufacturer, food processor, and insurance provider.

They don't make clothes and packages dried fish and noodles anymore, but I'm told life insurance and healthcare services is still a big chunk of their revenue in Korea.

Please give examples of why you would think he would be any different than roh.

I think he would be stronger than Roh on diplmoacy issues International affairs, there is no guarantee to what he can do as he has never been president. But it would be foolish to go about politics the same exact way and expect the different results. I'm still trying to understand the hatred for liberals over there.

Are Koreans very loyal to the conservative party?
