So why does nobody give a crap about Net Neutrality?

All those supporting “net neutrality” are the same in favour of Alex jones getting silenced

Yeah, who cares about free speech and ISPs selling your info. Just look at our internet speeds!

Fucking morons.
What does net neutrality have to do with free ISPs selling your info? And have any examples of ISPs infringing on free speech? There's still a first amendment to cover that you know.

"Why aren't you putting out that fire in the kitchen??!?!?!?!" ask the self-styled conservatives as they frantically flick a lighter underneath a living room curtain.

I find the hate towards ISPs to be irrational. It wasn't even two decades ago where we had download speeds of 50 KB/s. We've improved that speed by 2000000% for around the same price (taking into account inflation), all the while the whole requirements of the internet have gotten way bigger. Back then all you had were HTML forms. Nowadays with 4K streaming, the architecture has had to change and adapt to a level most people simply don't comprehend.

Imagine if we held companies to the same scrutiny that we hold ISPs. How can we let grocery stores sell food to whoever they choose? People with differing political opinions would simply not be allowed to buy food, and they would starve to death. We need government to regulate grocery stores, to prevent these evil big grocery store chains from denying people food and starving people to death!

We assume that ISPs would literally be the next incarnation of Hitler if they had any power, instantly silencing anyone they disagree with and only giving access to sites they want you to see. Although I can't think of many instances of this happening before or since net neutrality was repealed.

I think we should be more concerned with breaking up internet monopolies, the root of the issue.

Fuck, what rock do you curmudgeons crawl out of? Either read up on this before talking, or go back under it.

Your first article are what "could" happen, not really examples, as I requested.

Net neutrality has nothing to do with privacy. Those are separate regulations.

And the third link has one example of a court case against Comcast for throttling, which was resolved by the FCC before net neutrality was ever in place.

Is that the best you got? One example of a case that was resolved in 2007? (8 years before net neutrality was implemented)

Have you experienced any of the aweful things they promised would happen?

And the ISPs weren't selling our info when we had Net Neutrality? <LikeReally5>

All those "targeted ADs" that appear on our browsers when we surf the web....for example....

I bumped my head when I tried to reconnect my router this morning. Does that count? <Moves>

The links were meant to demonstrate the basic issues at hand, since you didn't, and still don't, seem to understand the long term consequences concerning privacy, free speech, censorship, and ISP regulations. It's been two months since the repeal; do you really think ISPs are going to come flying out of the gates with this?

And it most certainly is a privacy issue if your ISP is selling your data to third parties. How you can't see that is mind boggling.

yes They made an issue out of trump banging porn stars also

Nobody cares

It’s a shame the left doesn’t stick to the issues because the issues that matter get swept up and away with the stormy daniels type news that they are known for far too often

Well I can say that none of the far left news commentary sources I watch give a shit about, Trump banging porn stars or safe spaces in colleges.

I figured this would be something both sides would work together on. It seems like the government has successfully swept this issue under the rug.
I think most people don’t really grasp the concept. It’s not as tangible as, lets say some fucking wall or deciding who gets to piss in what toilet.

There are tons of horrible decisions being made by the current administration that barely get the outrage they should.

But they're private companies....o_O

..Oh wait, this isn't the Alex Jones banned Thread?!?! ;)

This thread is filled with people that know nothing about what Net Neutrality even covers...

Liberals WANT Net Neutrality. But its because of Net Neutrality that social media CAN ban people based on anything, including political views...Section 230 of the communications act was created at a time the internet was viewed as a public utility and thus held websites accountable for anything on them as they were treated as PUBLISHERS thanks to the successful lawsuit against Prodigy back in 1994 or 5.

Now that Net Neutrality is gone, its time for lawyers to actually go back and re-read that law and realize we can now SUE the fuck out of internet companies for discrimination since we ARE their customers.

More over, we can SUE ISPs for treating one set of traffic differently than others since again, that is now discriminatory.

The law is funny like that. During all the years of Net Neutrality, ISPs have been treating traffic differently because they COULD.
