Im a Jon Jones fan, but Ive been thinking about putting money on. DC to win this next fight. DC is +200 while jones is -260. might be worth putting $500 down to get $1000.

ill post the bet slip if you convince me DC has a chance.

Honestly I think it depends on how Jon Jones looks after over a year out.

The best Jon Jones beat the best Daniel Cormier, but Cormier has been on a roll where as Jones hasn't been competing and until recently wasn't even training any striking.

For Cormier to win this fight, honestly, he has to hope Jon Jones isn't the same fighter he fought before and that his lack of activity comes back to haunt him.

Summed up nicely. Also we may get an idea if Jones was really using PEDs

no, i won't. but here's some analysis as to why he might, if you choose to accept it.

Jones has had one fight per year for, what, 4 years? he doesn't get to use his patented finger defense, he seems to have gained muscle mass and can't use IV after his weight cut, and may - or may not - have what some call "ring rust". some think DC is "got to", but I think he's highly competitive, very confident, and cannot wait for this fight (e.g. i don't think he's "got to" at all).

but all evidence suggests Jones is a better fighter. even if he lost a round or 2 to DC already.

so, this July 2017 bout is the best chance DC will ever have to beat him. he won 1 or 2 rounds the first time out, and the question is, has he learned from his mistakes enough to eke out 3 rounds next time?

hard to say. and even if he does, Jones comes from the quintessential "game plan" camp. DC doesn't seem to have slowed with age. but he has proven - with Jones and again with Gus & AJ - a propensity to sit in kick range too long. i think they're going to try to stay in that range.

i think 2-1 is probably about right. if Jones didn't have the layoff it might be 3-1. if you lay it, good luck.

    I like DC's chances.
I hope he doesn't feel the need to "prove a wrestling point" this time.

DC has faced more dangerous strikers in Gus and AJ, DC was doing fine in the last fight especially in the clinch were he landed many hard uppercuts on Jones, he needs to make this a standup fight where he can attack the body and head, DC shouldn't attempt to wrestle until the later rounds. Jon has fought once in what 2 years? If DC can get in his face and do some damage early in the fight he may be able to impose his wrestling on a overwhelmed and passive Jones.

DC has a great chance, Jon jones hasn't fought for awhile and shouldn't be on peds this time. Definitely worth the odds if you're looking for action on that fight. I don't know what odds are on fight goes distance but I think theres a great chance it goes distance I can't see him finishing DC and DC finishing jones is too good to be true so if it happens you win anyways

I give DC a 40% chance to win, he's on a roll and has all the momentum. I may put some down too depending on the odds the week of the fight. DC has to have a solid weight cut and avoid those damn eye pokes tho lol.

I appreciate your balls my friend in suggesting this, but trust your instincts. Surely you have learned to NEVER bet against Jon Jones. He is a bookie's nightmare. Fair enough he's probably been favourite in every fight since he won the belt, but he has been in some tricky situations and always finds a way out. I would never bet against Jones even if he had a 10 year break with a kilo of colombia up his nostrils.

DC has faced elite competition, there's no doubt in his abilities. But his chances of out-striking Jones are minimal, even with Jones's layoff, I can't see it happening. Jones will find a way. "DC should wrestle into the later rounds"?, DC is an elite wrestler yes, but Jones embarassed DC in that department last time they clashed and I can't see this time being any different. MMA wrestling is clearly very different from olympic/pure wrestling. Jon Jones is a master of MMA wrestling, in fact he's proven himself as a master of MMA striking and MMA grappling. Don't encourage this unfortunate man to throw 500 of his hard earned dollars away betting against Jones.

Please refer to my above comments and re-consider :)

Jones will school him and make it look easy pushing tubby to retire

I believe his chance of winning are great...Jones is coming off of yet another long layoff and the last time he fought, he did not look great at all

Another way to look at it is Cormier is old and busted up while Jones is prime age and rested up. DC couldn't beat him then, ain't gonna beat him now that he's even more haggard than he was before. 5'11" chicken-gut doesn't outdo 6'4" and shredded. And hoping Jones devolves into some substandard fighter cause he doesn't have his dick pills is just wishful thinking. Come the post-fight presser, you're going to see a bruised and humble Cormier say he gave it everything he had but it just wasn't enough

I mean I think Jones will win but I also think the odds are way too wide. May be worth a little money.

I'd say it's about 50/50. Jones will be rusty and he won't have his PEDs.
