So the UFC re-signed lauren murphy

Well if she's fighting an 8-0 fighter it's pretty obvious, she's there to get beaten.

I think it's not so much that they re-signed her, as much as she still has a contract, and can be used to get over a younger fighter.

Isn't it just standard operating procedure for TUF contestants to fight at the TUF finale?
No, not at all.

TUF 25 only had the finalists (Lima and Taylor) and losing semi finalists (Krause and Gallichio) appear at the TUF finale. Nobody else returned.

TUF 24 didn't even do that. Hiromasa Ogikubo made it to the finals, and was never signed to the UFC. (Only 5/16 in total got to fight in the UFC: Schnell, Moreno, Pantoja, Elliott, Shelton. In Schnell and Moreno's case, they took short notice fights.)

TUF 15 and TUF Brazil 1 were the last seasons where pretty much everyone got to see the UFC.

In the previous TUF where women fought for a championship belt, TUF 20, 15 of the 16 contestants fought on the finale. The only contestant who didn't join them, Justine Kish, was absent only because she was injured, needed an operation, and hadn't even been able to fight during any of the show episodes. Seo Hee Ham was matched up with Jo Jo Calderwood on the finale so that the odd number of fighters (15) could be made even (16) and nobody got left out.
