Two bad main events in a row. An unpopular, boring champion. Top of the division dominated by aging, one dimensional fighters whether they be low volume strikers with no grappling or grinding wrestlers with no striking. Not much in the way of prospects. Even LHW has a better outlook then 170 right now

    It IS kind of bizarre.

WW was THE most stacked division a few years ago.

WW is still in a better state than MW, LHW and HW. LW and FW are the top divisions.

To be fair, I think it still is one of the most stacked divisions. The guys at the top are extremely talented fighters, and there's a ton of depth in the division. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, it seems that most of the top guys aren't exciting fighters.... Definitely odd how the majority of "boring" fighters in the UFC right now seem to be in the WW division.

    Ponzi will save us.

Sorry but the WW division is at the best it has ever been. Woodley, Wonderboy and Till would beat 99% of the "old school"

Welterweight is making way for Usman, till, and Covington right now; all new to the top of the division.

Lawler is winding down, Thompson has been boring and losing, Cerrone is suffering from being so active. The division has lost a lot of steam.

At least Magny called out Usman. Maybe he can keep that boring blanket away from the title.

Guys are just always so evenly matched and seemingly more tactical and cautious at WW.

...GSP left a distinctive influence on the style of the WW division after years of dominance. It's only natural for upcoming fighters to compare themselves to, and learn from the champion of their weight class.

And for a while. There were a lot of potential fights and fighters to be excited about.

Who’d a thunk a few years ago that RDA might be the fighter to save the ww division.

Gsp fought cautiously, but he still fought.

    Takedowns, advancing positions, pressure.

He was cautious, but he engaged and fought

It’s not like the guys at the top are not high level elite fighters, they just don’t have the blood and guts styles that most fans enjoy..

How the fuck is WW in a better state than MW?

    WW
T-wood has put on several snoozers in a row, some of the most boring title fights ever which actually have set records for least strikes thrown in a fight and is on extended vacation, with no return scheduled.
(After waiting 4-6 months to have a surgery rather than begin the process because he was trying to get a money fight against a LW)

The fairly pointless interim title is between a super talented hard working LW (coming off a decision over a 1 legged past prime Lawler) and a douchebag who got his title shot on Twitter by pandering to easily amused retards.

    MW

has a young, active champ and a dangerous contender who won his last fight via KO over a proven former champ. They are fighting in an actual title fight which is scheduled for the next PPV.

The top MW are killers all have finishing power, elite wins and phenomenal highlight reels.

The top 5-6 guys could conceivably take out any other contender on any given day and fights between them are very competitive.

    Wonderboy vs Usman

and Till fights the loser of Rda vs Colby.

i dont believe fights out of the weight class effect its rankings.

Wonderboy didnt lose his #1 spot.

The top guys in the MW divisions have big names, but they are old, on the verge of retiring, have shattered chins and/or have been looking like shells of their former selves (Jacare, Bisping, Machida, Weidman, Rockhold). That's why Gastelum (who's not even a real MW) was able to climb that ranking so quickly. There's one prospect in the MW division that I can think of (Paulo Costa).

RDA is bringing excitement back to WW. He'll be champion soon enough.

    No prospects?

    Till
    Edward's
    Luque
    Curtis Mill ender
    Elizeu Zaleski Dos Santos
    Emil Meek
    Max Griffin
    Muslim Salikhov
    Niko Price
    Bilal Muhammed
    Randy Brown

    There's some real good prospects.

Plus guys like Till, Covington, RDA, Usman, Magny and Ponzinibbio are right in their primes
