WTF.

I guess I just don't understand marketing departments.

I don't even own a single gun nor have I ever shot a S&W, but I find this deplorable.

EDIT - I guess I should have read the article until the end : the weapons will keep the S&W brand.

Sorry for meh thread.

I actually only carry Smith and Wesson now. My duty gun is an M&P 9, my backup is a 5 shot S&W .357 magnum and my off duty gun is a M&P 9c.

Glad to see they are keeping the iconic name.

Well shit, time to get one of their revolvers.

Stupid move iMO.

Well I didn't read the entire opening post.

They can still call the various gun lines Smith and Wesson. Then they can create new lines with different names.

'Smith & Wesson' is synonymous with iconic American firearms.

Stupid move, and I can't imagine why they'd scrap the centuries of name recognition to start anew. Whatever problems they've had in recent history would easily be forgiven if they released the best products, for the price, on the market.

'American Outdoor Corp' sounds so generic and soul-less.

Can you imagine going up to someone at the range and ask 'Hey, how's that AOC working out for you?'

I've never been a huge fan of smith and Wesson. For semi autos, give me a glock, sig or a 1911. For revolvers, I'll take a ruger.

My dad has always been a big fan though.

As long as they keep the name on the weapons that's cool.

The only one I own these days is the MP AR15 they make
