Absolutely fucking great session. Squats felt about the same strength wise as yesterday, but this time on my attempt at 320 I controlled my descent more and stayed back on my heels. That made a big difference and nailed it. First drop down set at 290 felt very heavy so I kept it to a double. Second set felt a lot better but still just missed hitting it for a triple.
Snatches felt fantastic, I was originally just going to go for two doubles at 180, maybe try 190 for a new PR double, but after 170 and 185 felt as solid as they did I said fuck it. I should've had 200 on my first attempt but I ran out of room and had to drop it, since I set up pretty far forward on the platform, another step and I would've stabilized it. Second attempt didn't engage my arms enough and I nailed the third attempt. Hit 210 on my first try very smoothly, no steps needed at all, and was freaking thrilled. I've been so close for what seems like so long that it was great to finally get it. 215 attempts were somewhat close, I either didn't engage my arms enough or was bumping the bar too much. So I lost them all out in front.
Cleans felt really really solid all the way through 210. I believe 225 times my best double at this bodyweight, so it was kinda just me wanting to give it a try. First rep was good but tough and second rep was ugly; caught the low on my shoulders and had to bump it up at the top on my recovery.
I've really wanted to work on my upper body strength lately as 1. it's pathetically low and 2. my overhead stability has never been too great. So basically just tested my 1 rep max on presses. 120 was tough but I may have been able to do 125, 130 wasn't close at all.
Really really encouraged by this session. Right now I'm closing in on my PR's in the strength lifts and my classical lifts are the best they've ever been. And what's especially exciting is that I'm probably close to, if not right at, 152lbs right now and my strength hasn't taken a dive, its actually improved, since I really committed to cutting down from just over 160lb. So assuming I don't completely lose control of my diet over the next 5 weeks, I shouldn't have to even worry about cutting weight at all for my first meet on April 19th. Going forward I'm definitely gonna start focusing more on back squats, as my current ratio to my snatch and front squat is already pretty good(65.6% and 85.9%). So I think its just a case of continuing to improve my strength.
Edit- Damn I wrote a book lol just very excited about how my training is going.
