I woke up at 152.2 this morning, ya wtf. Lifting was pretty solid though. Squats felt about the usual in terms of strength but I was doing a much better job of staying upright. Snatches were really solid, the triple at 170 was easy, although the attempted double at 190 wasn't close. Clean and jerks were tough at the tops sets but still managed not to miss any reps.

Weird session. Front Squats were great, this was by far the best 270 I've hit in a long time, I managed to stay very upright throughout the whole lift. Snatches started great, sets at 155 were cake then the PR triple at 175 was actually pretty easy as well. Moved up to 180 and boom barely got one rep, I have no idea what happened there. Power cleans were solid as usual, felt good to be able to hit 2 plates. Weighed 151.6 this morning, which is literally the lightest I've been in 2 years, but ate like total shit today so I'll stick to my planned deficit for the rest of the week, then weigh myself and decide where I wanna go from there.

Absolutely fucking great session. Squats felt about the same strength wise as yesterday, but this time on my attempt at 320 I controlled my descent more and stayed back on my heels. That made a big difference and nailed it. First drop down set at 290 felt very heavy so I kept it to a double. Second set felt a lot better but still just missed hitting it for a triple.

Snatches felt fantastic, I was originally just going to go for two doubles at 180, maybe try 190 for a new PR double, but after 170 and 185 felt as solid as they did I said fuck it. I should've had 200 on my first attempt but I ran out of room and had to drop it, since I set up pretty far forward on the platform, another step and I would've stabilized it. Second attempt didn't engage my arms enough and I nailed the third attempt. Hit 210 on my first try very smoothly, no steps needed at all, and was freaking thrilled. I've been so close for what seems like so long that it was great to finally get it. 215 attempts were somewhat close, I either didn't engage my arms enough or was bumping the bar too much. So I lost them all out in front.

Cleans felt really really solid all the way through 210. I believe 225 times my best double at this bodyweight, so it was kinda just me wanting to give it a try. First rep was good but tough and second rep was ugly; caught the low on my shoulders and had to bump it up at the top on my recovery.

I've really wanted to work on my upper body strength lately as 1. it's pathetically low and 2. my overhead stability has never been too great. So basically just tested my 1 rep max on presses. 120 was tough but I may have been able to do 125, 130 wasn't close at all.

Really really encouraged by this session. Right now I'm closing in on my PR's in the strength lifts and my classical lifts are the best they've ever been. And what's especially exciting is that I'm probably close to, if not right at, 152lbs right now and my strength hasn't taken a dive, its actually improved, since I really committed to cutting down from just over 160lb. So assuming I don't completely lose control of my diet over the next 5 weeks, I shouldn't have to even worry about cutting weight at all for my first meet on April 19th. Going forward I'm definitely gonna start focusing more on back squats, as my current ratio to my snatch and front squat is already pretty good(65.6% and 85.9%). So I think its just a case of continuing to improve my strength.

Edit- Damn I wrote a book lol just very excited about how my training is going.

I spent the week after my last post on a cross country road trip with my girlfriend(now ex lol), so went just over 10 days without lifting. Both my technique and strength took a pretty big hit, but lately at least my technique has started really started coming back.

Snatches felt fantastic, everything was very smooth and strong. I think I could've gotten 215 but the allure of 100kg was just too much. First 3 attempts at 220 felt really close, definitely think I have it in me. Despite not getting 100kg, I'm still really happy with snatches today, 210 ties my best snatch from the floor and is a 15lb PR. This was also my first time ever attempting to snatch 100kg.

Cleans also felt pretty snappy, but leg strength was an issue. 240 is an all-time PR by 5lbs, but was very tough; I had to bounce a couple of times at the bottom to recover it. Attempted 245 and didn't even try to get under it, although in the video it looks like I maybe could have.

Front Squats felt good technically but were pretty tough, I'm gonna say I can maybe hit 265 right now.

Overall my first great session since coming back from the trip. My bodyweight is also under 150lbs for the first time in probably 6 years or so. I'm gonna assume the vast majority of weight lost is fat, as I'm still PR'ing(I'm attributing the strength lose mainly to the time off) and I'm definitely looking way leaner. So my plan right now is to maintain my current diet for another week or so and then slowly start adding calories until I get to maintenance.

My less-than triumphant return to logging! Can't believe it's been over a year since my last entry, looks like I went out on a high note though lol.

Well shortly after that last post, my gym changed their hours, which no longer fit with my work hours, so I had to leave there. Tried lifting at my house but there just was barely enough space to do the basic lifts, much less any olympic lifts. Eventually found an Anytime Fitness that was cheap enough and had 2 squat racks so I signed up there. Lifting has been at best haphazard up until just over a month ago when I started slowly getting myself back into the swing of lifting.

Earlier in the week I was able to hit doubles at 220 in the other power clean variations(hang and blocks). So I went in today hoping to be able to get 225 for a double. Pretty happy with both reps, as my form stayed pretty solid, and I believe it's an all-time best double for me, especially encouraging as I'm somewhere between 152 and 155 right now. I feel like I should be able to get 235, but lifting without bumper plates is such a mental hurdle for me.
