Hi all
I know this thread has prob be done before many times but I have to ask, I am going to train at sinbi in April and I have the option of staying at sinbi in a king size room or to stay at the Phuket riviera villas , they are both priced relatively the same, so I am just looking for some advice from people that have been there before. Like maybe the pros and cons of staying at either of them.
I hope you can help me

I have been to Sinbi 10+ times, lost count. I have only stayed at the gym once, the first time. Now I always stay outside the gym.

If it is your first time in Thailand, you might want to stay at the gym. But you will be forced to listen to all the salty one month experts telling you how awesome they are after bashing up a taxi driver at Bangla.

I just got back from my first trip to Sinbi and stayed in a private room (my stay was a bit more than 2 weeks). I enjoyed it -- it was cool to be able to wake up and walk all of 12 steps to classes, and it was a little easier to make friends with the people who were also staying there. There were also a lot of people staying at the Sinbi apartments, which were pretty nice, but not quite walking distance. It was fine for me during my stay, granted it wasn't an American 5-star hotel quality room.

Try it out, it might be to your liking. Depending on how long you stay, you could always stay a bit of time at Sinbi and then a bit of time staying somewhere else. Food accommodations and entertainment are not far away from the camp at all (I always walked it to food places in about 10 minutes or less), and it's inexpensive to rent a motorbike.

I did both hotel and staying at the gym when I was there. If you stay at the gym make sure you tell them what time you are arriving. I found the hotel nicer, but the convenience of training was amazing.

A lot of truth in this post. I've been training at Sinbi lately and its amazing how many people show up here with ZERO previous experience (no problem) then a week later are talking down to you with how much more they know about Muay Thai than you do. I have pretty much reverted to actively staying away from most people here, maybe its this particular crowd or perhaps its the fact that Sinbi caters to the non-elite crowd but at this point I am sort of counting down the days. Great gym but if I ever come back I'll be staying around the corner.

Don't get me wrong, there are some very good fighters that train there. The Aussies from Riddlers Gym are always very good and cool as hell. I just prefer to stay out of the gym when I'm not training.

thats random...had a small chat with Caley Reece on Instagram yesterday and i believe she's out of Riddlers Gym. shes headlining Lion Fight 13 in Vegas.

Every time I've ever been at Sinbi, I do my best to be friendly, but I never engage with anyone unless I absolutely have to. I've met some very cool people there, and I've also met some colossal paps. Same goes for the other gyms in the area that I've trained at before (Rawai, Tiger).

That said, I'm going to swing by in April because I really do miss dudes like Sing, Pot, Rawee, etc. Qatar Airlines is opening a hub in Philadelphia and having an enormous sale on flights out of there. I was able to snag a one-stop flight to BKK for $900.

Oh, and I've never, ever stayed at the gym. Or any other gym in Phuket. Bangkok's a different story for me.

I'll be in BKK April 5-20, doing a few days in Ubon for Song Kran.

The trainers at Sinbi are awesome and there are some cool people there but the clientel is definatly different than other gyms I've been to.

I've been to Tiger. Twice. There's no way they're worse than Tiger.

What are the food options like around Sinbi? I'm not sure if I would like to rent a motorbike to get around. Would I be able to find what I need within walking distance? Maybe even a massage parlor or two. The wholesome kind of course :icon_lol:

There are plenty of places to eat and get a massage within a short walk from Sinbi. Last time I was there -- last year -- I think there was a massage place across the street. You won't need a motorbike to eat, drink, or get massaged.
