So I currently box about two times per week. Once at my regular boxing club and once with privates from my coach. I also do karate.

While I love boxing my primary goal is to improve my stand up for karate and kickboxing. I have never used boxing shoes before but most people in my boxing class use them. I just go barefoot as I have been doing for years.

Should i wear boxing shoes when doing just pure boxing?

Bare foot is fine mate. Better than boxing in your average running shoes and rolling your ankle.

If it is strictly a boxing gym, I think you should, it's etiquette. (Also hygienic and many other small reasons).

If the gym offers other disciplines then I won't worry about it.

Agree or not, this is Nick Diaz's view on that and I personally agree with him for the most part.

Ya it is not just a boxing gym. There is a MT class right before boxing in fact.

Good Nick Diaz video. I agree with him. I love MMA but sometimes the striking is super ruidimentary. And not just even in fights. You see footage in gyms of pros hitting the bag or hitting mitts and the technique is not tight at all.

Then it's not strictly a boxing gym, I wouldn't worry about shoes. Only get them when you are stepping on others' toes or needing the traction.

Muay Thai Gyms don't worry about shoes. My gym is a Boxing/Thai gym so I do Muay Thai pads for 30 mins then do boxing pads after, no point putting shoes on unless I'm sparring.
