    Sherdog Whiteboard

    I will keep the top 5 in each lift. We will start with the basic lifts and can add other categories if there is interest.

    The board starts today, April 29, 2013. I don't care what you did yesterday, last week, or last year.

    RULES:

    1. You must have a video of the lift. It's 2013, it's not that difficult.
    2. If you're submitting lifts, you need to keep a training log on Sherdog. I don't want random people just coming in & posting a lift.
    3. Wraps, straps, sleeves, belts are all ok - suits aren't.

    Judging (this will be updated as/if needed):

    SQUAT:
    I will typically use the 'water test' when judging all squats.
    If there was water on your thigh:
    1. It rolls toward your hips - good lift.
    2. It doesn't roll either way - borderline, but we'll count it.
    3. It rolls toward your knees - no lift.

    STRICT PRESS:
    1. The lift will NOT count if there there is any knee bend prior to the start of the lift.
    2. I repeat, your knees MUST BE LOCKED.
    3. From the chest/clavicle to overhead with no additional momentum builder.
    4. I don't care if you don't think it helped you, it probably did. If it didn't, you wouldn't do it.

    BENCH PRESS:
    1. Butt must stay on the bench.
    2. Bar must touch your chest.
    3. Bar must be locked out.
    4. You do not have to pause

    SNATCH:
    1. Hang or from the floor are both acceptable
    2. Power Snatch is acceptable

    CLEAN:
    1. Hang or from the floor are both acceptable
    2. Power clean is acceptable

    We can add it I guess if there's lots of interest, but I think it gets tough to judge bodyweight exercises to see if they're legit. If someone's doing 150 pushups, am I going to watch a long video & make sure they go to parallel each time?

    With chins, muscle ups, and slightly less with pistol squats, the reps are likely to be pretty low and the standards are obvious to see. It is, of course, up to you.

    Why introduce body weight lifts in which you have to perform for reps? Should we have a top 5 for most reps with bench, deadlift and such? But if there's enough interest for the bodyweight stuff for reps, then go ahead.

    I would, however, be up for chins or dips PLUS weight.

    I'd prefer reps, but weight is okay too. Weight is hard to do with muscle ups and what not.

    Actually, muscle ups have to much variability in form. Maybe just stick to chins, dips, and pistols.

    For the dips/chins I'd say go with total weight. So if a 240lbs guy wore a 40lbs vest. His lift would count for 280. and so on. Seems like the best way to do them, form would be hard to "Judge" consistency for max reps IMO.

    If you can touch and go the bench, then can we touch and go the press? e.g. start from the top (or push press the first rep) then touch the clavicle and press.
