Here's a quick list of all movies watched by the SMC. Or if you prefer, here's a more detailed examination.
@Scott Parker 27 is up this week and he's got an eclectic mix for us.
Boogie Nights (1997)
Director: Paul Thomas Anderson
Stars: Mark Wahlberg, Julianne Moore, Burt Reynolds
Premise: The story of a young man's adventures in the Californian pornography industry of the late 1970s and early 1980s.
Why @Scott Parker 27 picked it: I love this movie, great acting, even from Marky Mark, plus tons of star power including Phillip Seymour Hoffman. So may quotable lines from this flick.
Trailer:
Mean Streets (1973)
Director: Martin Scorsese
Stars: Robert De Niro, Harvey Keitel, David Proval
Premise: A small-time hood aspires to work his way up the ranks of a local mob.
Why @Scott Parker 27 picked it: Scorsese's first real film. Great actors, and of course directing. Young Harvey Keitel and Robert De Niro.
Trailer:
Bringing Out the Dead (1999)
Director: Martin Scorsese
Stars: Nicolas Cage, Patricia Arquette, John Goodman
Premise: Haunted by the patients he failed to save, an extremely burned-out Manhattan ambulance paramedic fights to maintain his sanity over three fraught and turbulent nights.
Why @Scott Parker 27 picked it: Also a Scorsese film, however starring Nicholas Cage. I remember watching this once in theaters when it first came out and some of the cinematography is amazing, haven't seen it again though. Also probably doesn't hurt that this stars Cage, since it seems Sherdog loves him.
Trailer:
Bad Lieutenant (1992)
Director: Abel Ferrara
Stars: Harvey Keitel, Brian McElroy, Frankie Acciarito
Premise: While investigating a young nun's rape, a corrupt New York City police detective, with a serious drug and gambling addiction, tries to change his ways and find forgiveness.
Why @Scott Parker 27 picked it: An amazing film and the 3rd time I have nominated it now. I will force SMC to watch this eventually, even if its not this week. One of my favorite flicks ever, and a truly freaky ride.
