@BeardotheWeirdo is up this week and he's got a rather eclectic group of films to choose from.

    Here are our candidates!

    Run Lola Run (1998)

    Director: Tom Tykwer

Stars: Franka Potente, Moritz Bleibtreu, Herbert Knaup

Premise: After a botched money delivery, Lola has 20 minutes to come up with 100,000 Deutschmarks.

Why @BeardotheWeirdo picked it: It's beautifully filmed, acted, and is presented in an interesting way.

    Trailer:

A Bullet for the General (1967)

    Director: Damiano Damiani

Stars: Gian Maria Volontè, Klaus Kinski, Martine Beswick

Premise: A band of Mexican gun-runners employed by a revolutionary general lure an American mercenary into joining their gang, unaware that he is targeting their general.

Why @BeardotheWeirdo picked it: My favourite actor Gian Maria Volonte, and the one and only Klaus Kinski in a movie from one of my favourite Italian directors, and it's on a subject that I find interesting. What's not to like?

    Trailer:

    Manborg (2011)

    Director: Steven Kostanski

Stars: Matthew Kennedy, Adam Brooks, Meredith Sweeney

Premise: A soldier, brought back to life as a cyborg, fights alongside a band of adventurers against demon hordes in a dystopian future.

Why @BeardotheWeirdo picked it: The first hilarious, super-low-budget "full length" masterpiece from my favourite movie making team, Astron-6. (and it's only an hour long)

    Trailer:

    The War on Democracy (2007)

    Director: John Pilger

Stars: John Pilger, Philip Agee, Salvador Allende

Premise: Award winning journalist John Pilger examines the role of Washington in America's manipulation of Latin American politics during the last 50 years leading up to the struggle by ordinary people to free themselves from poverty and racism.

Why @BeardotheWeirdo picked it: John Pilger is one of the few journalists that doesn't hold back at all, and in this documentary he uses real (and often disturbing) footage to back up his stand. Pilger exposes the mainstream media for what it is.

    Trailer:

This was a tough one. I ultimately chose what I chose because it's a movie I've been wanting to see for quite a long while and I figure now is finally the time.

I'm voting with my heart instead of my principles this weak.

Also, my Maniac write-up will come later than usual this weak. Busy and all that.

Beardo you have placed 2 films in there that are performing torture on my mind. 1 of them I haven't seen, and the other is something I have a weakness for.

I would have voted with @europe1 this week but what I voted for is like Kryptonite to me. Europe I guess if there is a tiebreaker this week then I'll be voting with you in the tiebreaker unless it also involves what I voted for.

Well, I can't really give away what I voted for. Its Kryptonite to me because of its subject matter.

There were several reasons I voted for the movie I voted for. I can't divulge any information on those reasons.

Klaus Kinski is the gold standard when it comes to being an amazingly demented motherfucker. I recently watched Aguirre, the Wrath of God. Jesus Christ. I REALLY felt bad for Werner Herzog for having to deal with his outrageous displays of donkery.

on weeks 4 and week 28 every year it should be a ritual to watch 28 days later and 28 weeks later respectively on those weeks.

Aguirre was one of the early selections we watched. My Best Fiend is worth a watch too.

I hope Fitzcarraldo gets picked one week but I'll probably have to be the one to nominate it.
