Shawn Porter stops Andre Berto, sets up Thurman rematch

Shawn Porter is now the mandatory challenger for Keith Thurman’s WBC welterweight title, after he physically wore out Andre Berto tonight on Showtime in a rough, physical fight, that saw Porter get a ninth round stoppage victory.

Shawn Porter defeated Andre Berto by 9th-round knockout in a welterweight title eliminator Saturday night to become the mandatory challenger for world titleholder Keith Thurman. Porter, a former welterweight titlist, outlanded Berto 175-81 according to CompuBox (138-60 in power punches). For Berto, it was the second career loss by stoppage.
