Boxing , judo, taekwando, even wrestling and Greco-Roman wrestling is in the Olympics to boost the sports.

Why not have MMA (combined form of all those martial arts and more) in the most grand stage of Sports competition of the whole planet Earth?
What's the main reason mma is not promoted and accepted worldwide? Is it too bloody a sport?

I want to see a young 18 year old gold medalist Olympic mma champion getting signed in by the UFC and winning the belt when he is 23 . Is this not possible? Please make this happen world. It would be fun to watch.

I wouldn't mind it being introduced. It would be great for prospects. Remember the outcry from all the juicehead toykeys when they scrapped wrestling..

Combat Sambo gets my vote. It is essentially MMA and it actually looks like an olympic sport:

It will be in the next generation. There's too many out of touch old fucks on the IOC right now. They still think of it as a barbaric blood sport.

That would require a tounament format... and that would result in a lot of injuries and incomplete matches. Would never work. Also too much blood to be mainstream. Let's be realistic.

When we get olympic MMA it will be shit. No ground n pound, no heel hooks, no oblique kicks and there will be a guy with a flag who constantly stops the fight to warn fighters about eye pokes.

It's a sanctioned fight rather than a sport , at least real MMA is.

It's already too watered down to the point that most people do actually consider it a sport.

If it's in the Olympics that would be ok, but they would have to change it a lot. Combat sambo would be good to see.

Maybe removing ground strikes, all knees and all elbows would do it

The turnaround between fights seems like it would be too difficult, so you couldn't have a tournament format. It would just be too hard of a grind on the fighter's bodies and could be dangerous if someone had to compete 3 times in 2 weeks. That's just my 2 cents.

yea, they just added damn 3 on 3 basketball... anything can happen now lol
And some olympic sports they allow pros, but it seems like any martial arts discipline is strictly amateur status.. would be interested if MMA was ever considered whether they would allow current professionals to fight.

I would love to see athletes from all over the world compete in it if it does get recognised. Wouldn't be surprised if China comes first though

Come on bro, Don't be so juvenile. It was/is one of the core sport from the founding days of Olympic. By Founding day I meant ancient Greece not 1896.

What was the logic behind scrapping up Wrestling from Olympics & replacing it with Water Ballet, Equestrian & another one* I have forgotten about? Please don't tell me you consider Water Ballet a sport.

    * Now I remembered It was synchronised Swimming.
