Light heavyweight titleholder Sergey Kovalev, due back in action March 3 to headline an HBO card at the Theater at Madison Square Garden, will face Igor Mikhalkin, multiple sources told ESPN on Monday. The deal is in the process of being finalized. Light heavyweight titleholder Dmitry Bivol is due to face mandatory challenger Sullivan Barrera in the co-feature after Barrera turned down an offer to face Kovalev in the main event.
