Sam Harris v Russel Brand Discussion on Islam, philosophy and other issues.

The brooks guy does not make any sense. He says if Sufism was the main form of Islam there would not be problems. Then he argues beliefs do not matter as much as conditions.

What the hell? If Sufism was popular it would mean a different set of beliefs would be the the reason why things would be different.

Russell did not use any arguement really. he seems to think love solves everything and no one really believes what are in religious texts.

Brooks on majority report argued economic and policy coniditions determines actions, not beliefs. Then went into the argument that if Sufism was funded instead of salifism that things would be different.

I think some people who argue against harris do not follow what he is saying and thinks he against all Muslims.

In this clip he argues thousands of American Muslims would be a better president than trump or Ben Carlson

This is the thing that brooks and others often miss. Harris does say the us has done horrible things. Harris says he understands why someone in Iraq ay hate the us. We are bombing their niehborhoods. They have real grievances.

But that does not explain why a guy in England with a computer science degree would go there to cut off the heads of journalists and aid workers.



Harris worries that this type of bad ideas spreading. Walls cannot keep bad ideas out. Some of the recent terrorist attacking in Europe are from people born in Europe. It is typically people who suffer from an identity crisis who do not have attended regular religious training want to redeem themselves and go hung ho and think with their new found faith they have to protect the faith or co-religionists and carry out so violent act to show how serious they are.

So if Christians discard the Old Testament do they not follow the Ten Commandments?

Never seen a bible ripped in half.

The Niall Ferguson Waking up with Sam Harris podcast was really good. I really liked the first 90 minutes and agree with almost all that Ferguson said.
