Sage Northcutt is past his prime

Have all the money in the world dude
Difficult to enjoy it if you've got CTE and are slurring every other word
Plus.. it's always lovely talking about fighting 3 times a year but very few do at this level with injurys

Plus isn't the dude like.. super smart talk about boring desk jobs all you want if you getting 6 figures for using your brain that's guarenteed until retirement,
Fighting is what 10 years at best with no retirement plan
His dad sells coke and steroids. They have a pretty good life so maybe he fights for fun until he gets into the family business: coke and steroids.

He is young and still has to develop. Give the kid some time, I see him as the next Erik Silva

Buddy, for most people, I agree. I am also a desk job kind of guy.

But athletes that love to compete and are used to a different type of lifestyle generally don't really like that desk job type of life. Close relative of mine did his PhD, got a good job with a big paycheck, but hated every second in the office. The guy was a former fighter/athlete and eventually quit to do something for himself. And I see a lot of fighters not wanting that type of job/lifestyle.

It's not all about money.

And CTE, you know, guys who like to fight are going to fight regardless. Whether you go to the gym and train and spar hard etc. for recreational purposes or as a pro earning a living. If someone likes to do some type of activity, they will do it anyway.

I'm pretty sure Sage would rather fight than anything else in the world. He is not fighting because he doesn't have any other option or is stuck in poverty or whatever. The guy likes his life as a fighter.

How can you be past your prime if you were never in your prime to begin with?

I think his best days are behind him, sure he had that long reigning undefeated streak but he lost 2 out of his last 3 fights - his glory days are over, time to hang em up bud

He should step back now before the losses really pile up, maybe become a coach or something or do commentary

If Sage is past his prime then what we are the 30 years olds?

He needs to join a gym and not be coached by his father.

I think once he figures out his confused sexual orientation status, that he will be more focused, and become the greatest lgbtq mma champ of all time.

Sage probably would hit his prime in 4 or 5 years if he's dedicated, but he has other opportunities at this point so who knows.

He can fight as long as he wants.
However, he is being offered a lot of other ways to make money, and is also pursuing an education in engineering.
He can improve if he wants to, but if he has lost his desire, he is done.

In his last fight he got 60K to fight and would have gotten 60K if he won. How many twenty year olds make in a year a potential 360K (if he fights 3 times a year and wins) + that golden Reebok money + outside sponsorships (I think he has a sponsorship with Reebok and some nutrition company)? Not many.

AND, he is doing something he really loves. Sitting around in an office all day is not for everyone, regardless of how smart you are.

Office Schmoffice. I believe the "real money" the other poster suggested was to be made in gay or cuckold porn.

he needs to move to a better camp, something like Jacksons or maybe Tristar

When Mickey Gall bit Northcutt's face it took a lot out of him. Can't believe no one even discussed that incident.

Sit down all day or work out all day

who has more freedom?
A fighter has more freedom than your regular 9 tot 5 office job employee has. He can decide when he needs rest, he can decide when he wants to fight, what part of the day he trains etc.
