Rumor: If 125 is Dissolved, Not All Flyweights Will Move Up; Many Will Be Cut.

And everyone agrees with you about eliminating 125lbs women's MMA.
Only in your futile dreams.
And it's gonna grow very popular as more fights featuring Jedrzejczyk, Shevchenko, "KGB" Lee, Calderwood, etc. come out.

The average Sherdog poster would maul half the divsion so there's that LMAO

/s

division put on many good scraps for the past 5ish years, unfournately most of them were on fight pass prelims or the like which 99% of ppl didnt see

What a weird move. UFC was spending years to expand MMA as a whole and now they are going backwards.

Totally wrong. WME/Endeavor is a business. Someone sat down and looked at the wage cost for that weight class versus profit return and decided it wasnt worth it.

Same reason they traded MM for Askren. You think Askren makes the same as MM?

Its all about profits on investment........but few on Sherdog can understand that.

Theres other organizations thatll take them. Ill be so glad to not have to sit through any more of those fights during a pay per view.

ya who wants to see exciting fights where guys can go all out for 15 minutes at a time when we can have barn burner classics like Ngannou vs Lewis.

Do some of you even watch MMA at all or do you just sit on the forums and talk shit?

Someone could've dieded in Ngannou/Lewis though. That's why they were so cautious.

FLWs go balls to the balls because the consequences are low.

Nicely played by Dana if true. Askren may not like it, though. He might feel he got played.

How about we let them fight the girls. Maybe that will save the fans from dying of boredom.

P.S. This might help set up a 165 lb div. Lose one div, add another.

yeah, no 125 lb fighter has ever finished a fight by strikes. You right bruh

That was during the Fertita's era. Now it's the WME era and all they care about is making money.

Yeah, the guys who bought the UFC for $40M and sold it for $4B didn't care for making money.

It's not all about the size. Look at boxing, Floyd is the biggest star and he's a small guys. Conor is the biggest star in MMA and he's a manlet himself. Smaller guys can sell, its just there's nobody making noise at 125. DJ sounds like a spaz when he's on the mic, and his persona is a humble family man, and while that might make him a good person and ambassador for MMA, that isn't what puts asses in seats.

But Conor isnt small in sporting terms, neither is Floyd.

Lets say they both walk around at 160-170lb, for a young athletic male that is a pretty normal size. People can relate to McGregor, to Floyd, because they know how big featherweights are.

To most people, 125lb division is full of very small people.

its only 20lb between 125 and 145, but it is huge in terms of appeal because it crosses from what people can relate to, to what most people think is a midget

its like theres a threshold, and to most combat sports fans, in male division, that threshold is about 135lb (unless you are mexican or asian)

Of course, many will be too small to be competitive in BW.

Only 38/174 FLW fights were finished by strikes. Don't act like the FLWs don't have a much worse finish rate.

Not sure why they even made a 125 division in the first place. And I'm not too happy bout the idea of 165lb either. WW will just be a wasteland.

They just got a fuckin new champion. Don’t shut it down yet and let’s see how it’ll do. Instead, Henry gets the belt and then they shut 125 lbs right away. Lol.

Yeah, how terrible that they had one of the greatest fighters ever getting spectacular finish after highlight reel stoppage in a historic title defense run.

It was historic for how little anybody cared.
