At first, the robot appeared to be doing well. He greeted customers with enthusiasm, saying "hello gorgeous" or giving them high-fives. The shop's owners were pleased.

However, soon enough it became clear that he wasn't going to be the most helpful of employees. At best, he was incompetent or a jerk, at worst, he was actually scaring the customers away from the sausage section.

Whilst customers enjoyed his conversation, if they asked the robo-employee for any information at all, he wasn't the helpful type. When asked "where is the beer?" he responded, "in the alcohol section".

People would ask him where the cheese was, in the vague hope he'd say "aisle three".

“Instead it just gave a general location, for example, 'cheese is in the fridges', which was not very helpful," store owner Luisa Margiotta told the program.

Oh great. Now, it's gonna come back and shoot up the place

That’s racist as hell. I look forward to the day that people and robots fight whenever they meet. Imagine the Lols as a robot screams ‘worldstar’ before whipping your ass then boning your girl.

Sexual harassing piece of junk.

Can a robot sexually harass someone? It sounds like a programming problem. It could easily have been programmed to answer the questions with aisle locations. I wish stores had these. They might have to be reprogrammed daily as stores move things around constantly. Often employees don't even know where things are. Many have signs at the end of the aisles that haven't been updated to the changes.

Just another part of development. For comparison:

If the robot she’s for wrongful termination, the end is nigh. It means it is sentient.

So they disabled to robot because it was giving vague and blunt answers to customers? Maybe they should have used it in a 7 eleven

Watch out for that Robot at the Sausages section you don't want to get sodomized by a sausage!

Clerks would just have to update where they're putting things in a central database, which they're probably doing already anyways.

You would think so but they seem to have problems getting the sale prices entered into the computer. Some stores got into trouble with that and claimed it was an accident. It got worse when the company that supplied the software testified that they had to enter the sale price to make the shelf tags for the item and raise the price again after the tags were made.

"Hello gorgeous"?

Robot gonna get a dose of #metoo

The article says the robot was built by Heriot-Watt University in Scotland, but the pictures show Pepper by Aldebaran Robotics. I know they were working on integrating IBM's Watson, but I haven't kept up on it.

Imagine the poor schmuck getting cucked by a robot, standing there while it hits on his girl in front of him. Unable to do anything due to the immense robot strength.

A robot named Fabio guarding the sausage!
