Are there really any younger guys in Japan at those weights? I guess Takashi Sato got released by the UFC, the next opponent is probably Sato or Ryuichiro Sumimura (another old guy but at least he is winning)

Yeah the level is pretty poor at upper weighclasses in Japan. It's very telling that the (very) old guard is still very competitive, if not actually favoured, vs the young guns.

Apart from Sato, who would be a very stiff test for Tanabe...Taiga Iwasaki, Yura Naito or Kikuiri are some of the standouts in those weightclasses in the Japanese circuit.
