RIP. I think he probably had my #1 favourite voice in rock music. What a shame, what a waste.

I know depression/mental illness can affect anyone, but my brain still just can't compute that a guy like that would want to die. Rock legend, millions of dollars, a beautiful wife, children... I wish we could get into a mind like that and figure out what exactly could make Chris fucking Cornell want to hang himself him a hotel room.

he was 52 tho, so I dont know if this is the mentality people should be having in regard to this. I do not think he died of old age and natural complications, although I have not found the cause of death.

One of my favorites. Burden in My Hand and Like a Highway are my favorites of his. But he is one of the few artists where I liked the sound of pretty much every song he has done. (Though I had not heard of the Timbaland nonsense, so I won't comment on that.

A representative for the Detroit Police tells Variety that the death of Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell is being investigated as a suicide, although he emphasized that it is too early to make a definitive conclusion.

“At 12 a.m. [local time], we received a 911 call from the MGM Grand Casino Hotel,” Detroit Police director of media relations told Variety. “It appears as though a family friend was checking up on Cornell at his wife’s request. He went to hotel and discovered him unresponsive on the bathroom floor. Police made the location with EMS, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

“At present our investigation is leaning toward the possibility of suicide, but we must wait for a medical report to determine the cause of death. At this time we cannot release too much information about what we observed in Cornell’s hotel room or what led us to this conclusion.”

Woody could not confirm media reports that Cornell had died of strangulation, although a different representative for the police told Variety that the singer was found with a “band” around his neck.

Damn. Very sad. Cornell was a defining voice of my teens and early 20s. Godspeed, sir.

People that had the 90s understand how important his music was. Bands like his, PJ, STP, AIC, ushered in not just a new sound but a change in culture. They were true rock stars with lyrics and musicianship and a fucking attitude. That is gone now....it's shitty pop or mumble rap now. .No meaningful rock anymore. R.I.P to the best voice of that era for sure.

If they're speculating that it's a suicide, they must have VERY STRONG evidence or else they wouldn't have even brought it up. Most likely found with something tied around his neck.
