No, they aren't. I have no clue why they called them "Mexican" wraps to confuse people. I fell for that as well. Ended up selling the set of 10 packs.

From an Amazon review I just read:

"I've gone through several of these. More recently, I've ordered three pairs over the last several months and the quality seems to have gotten worse over time. All of them have had at least one if not both wraps mislabeled (the 'this side down' was on the wrong side). Moreover, the last two pairs I've ordered, which I'm now returning, are not made of the same semi-elastic material that they used to be made of"

I have a pair of these and have bought a ten pack a year ago (sold all but one pair). They must have downgraded tremendously since then. The ones I got were semi-elastic and still are.

That really sucks. The quality of low-mid-tier boxing supplies is really dropping off a cliff these days =\

I recently bought Ringside's 5-pack mexican wraps, 10-pack mexican wraps, and Contender Fight Sports (also at ringside.com) 10-pack mexican wraps.

They are different from each other.

The 5-pack definitely stretches as expected, I like them.

The 10-pack... barely stretches at all. Don't like them that much.

The Contender Fight Sports 10-pack... stretches like the 5-pack ringsides. Good stuff.

That's pretty interesting. So do the 5-pack ones and the 10-pack ones visually has the same pattern on the material? Or do they look different?

EDIT: To clarify on that: Do both share this "honeycomb" like pattern?

'Cause so far all the stretchy ones that I have used, only the ones with this "stripes" pattern stretch.

Other patterns, no matter what they label, they never really stretch. (Just in my experience, trying to see if I am wrong about this)

i also bought the 5 pack off amazon recently and i found them to have some elasticity.

I own a couple of generic pure cotton handwraps. My Ringside are a bit more elastic than them.

Sent an e-mail to the seller (Forza Sports) asking if there are different elasticity types.

Ringside website lists "cotton standart" and "mexican style", pictures look the same... maybe some sellers are mixing stuff?

Description on "cotton" doesn't mention Thumb Loop tho...

Got some answer from the store: "Thank you for your email. Some may be elastic. Mexican handwraps are meant to have very little elasticity, where as regular handwraps have no elasticity".

Did some research today and it seems that, while mexicans in general are elastic, Ringside isn't:

"These wraps are noticeably less stretchable than other Mexican style wraps, but many boxers actually prefer them for this reason"

http://muaythaipros.com/best-muay-thai-boxing-hand-wraps/
"The Ringside are Mexican style hand wraps which mean they are long (180 inches). I still prefer Fairtex, which feels more comfortable to the touch and has more elastic."

Ring to Cage and RevGear make nice stretchy good ones that are easy to find and not too pricey.

Why do they even make non elastic wraps? I got a pair by accident I never use them they are terrible
