Corn is the most efficient food to grow, but strawberries are the fastest.

Cloth is the best cash crop. I grow lots of it and then trade for steel, components, weapons, etc. For components, its best to send your caravan to nearby towns, but for steel/plasteel, its best to call them to you (with a comms relay).
(Why? Because bulk caravans only carry like 4 components but towns have like 50+)
