Rice bucket

What all does a rice bucket do? I know it builds like grip and forearm strength but how?
 
The same way all strength training works: through resistance.

Do you have any advice on when to use it. Right now im just doing it on my two rest days for 10 minutes each hand. Is that ok or should i do it at a certain time?
 
My favorite is Jasmine rice.

I really only used the rice bucket when I was having hand pain during boxing. Just try it and see what works. This is not one of those exercises where there is an ideal set/rep/volume number.

So only try when i have hand pain or just keep doing it like this?
