To be fair the kid wasn't like 7 or 8, I believe Daniel-son was mid puberty so he would at least have a fighting chance if Mr. Miyagi got rapey. Take into account the old man was also asian(of smaller stature) plus asians are known for being wise and In control of their more primal impulses plus don't think viagra was around back then, so I don't think the power imbalance was so great to warrant fear.

But you're right, I'd tell my kid to just YouTube some Gracie videos and some chrisfix videos if he wanted to learn about cars and martial arts but also you need to take into account that Daniel son didn't have a male role model in his house and momma was busy working
